15 years old to get a tattoo

can i get a tattoo if im 15 yrs old or should i wait till i turn 16 in a couple of weeks cause my birthday is in september?

You have to be 18 years old with proof of Identification to get a tattoo in the state of New York. Not to mention the fact that you should just wait til than. JOE

I'm 16 and I'm getting a tattoo next week, but I have my mom's permission and I have to earn the money for it

I think that you should wait...can you get a tattoo when you are 16? i thought that the law was 18! Amy

yes the law is 18 with valid id, but there are shops that will tattoo16 year olds . the place where i go will not tattoo a 16 yr old. and there is only a few shops that i consider to be good shops on the island, that have talented artist that you will get a great tattoo from. I would wait till your 18, 21 would be better. imo. just wait till your 18 then you be able to get tattooed by a really good artist and won't be getting what you got covered up in 2 years or more(worst case). just wait bryan

Anyone who will tattoo you before you are 18 is, I guarantee you, someone who you should not get a tattoo from. Wait till you can get a legal tattoo from a legit artist. This gives you 3 years to work on and/or decide on a design that you will wear for the rest of your life...sounds about right...In the meanwhile, get a friend to pen a tattoo on you with sharpie markers. keep freshening it up every week till you get tired of the design and then thank the stars that it wasn't a real permenant one....seriously!

I was 12 yrs. old but my dad signed for it {and the shop knew my sister}..... but then again that was along time ago {1981}.
