There are some of you who should know this history already but for those of you who do not especailly the haters who dont like sharing info and think an apprenticeship is the only way think about this...The very first tattoo machine was a stencil pen invented by Thomas Edison in 1876 intended for engraving and modified by Samuel O'Reilly in 1891 to incorporate the tube and needle along with ink resevoir..So when these very first tattoo machines were invented who do you think taught them how to use them who were the first artist who taught them..i'll give you a hint they were self taught...so before you hate read your history and think about it
A Bit Of Tattoo History

Uh, you'd be hard pressed to find a tattooist that doesn't know this already.
And in case it was just a poor oversight on your part, did you forget that tattoos used to SUCK?
no it was not a oversight i know they used to suck but they started out being awesome somewhere down the line and alot of the sucking part had to do with qaulity of ink and equipment not artistic ability
By this logic, you are trying to justify putting horrible tattoos on human beings until you one day become awesome. That's an awful attitude and there comes a point when you are self taught when you learn everything you're going to learn on your own. The chances of becoming "awesome" are nearly impossible until you get the proper technical training.
On a side note, I find it odd and embarrassing for you that you are trying to school experienced tattooists with info that is very basic and introductory.
Anyway, I will tell you that there are places online where tech info is shared freely. But you've stumbled across the wrong place as this forum was never meant as a means to learn how to tattoo or share technical advice.
Gina knows everything, all she's missing is a halo.
...and my wings.
and a personality.
Where, year wise, would be the line when tattoos started to "not suck"? Just curious.
