A topic thats worth something

Ok everyone heres a question just to see what the consensus is among us tattoo artists.. Why is it that when someone is getting their first tattoo they automatically think that they know everything about tattooing? I know we have all heard this from a virgin, " Ahh your digging me" or "Ahh its not supposed to hurt this bad." Can it people that people think they can learn tattooing through osmosis?

What you are asking about doesn't sound like people are pretending to know how, but simply that they have come to assumptions that are not proving true. Pain is a huge example of something you can't put a true answer to. Every person is different in that aspect, and they may say something like "it's not supposed to hurt this much" because they may have come to a website similar to this, asked around, and heard that where they are getting it doesn't hurt, yet for them it does. If they try to set the gun up and all of that, then ya, maybe they are trying to act like they know all about it and how to do it, but as far as simple things like those you've listen, they sound like just a personal opinion on what is happening to them, not knowing about tattooing in general
