I would like to get the top of my foot tattooed. Can anyone tell me if there are any risks involved with the veins in the top of my foot? Thery're pretty veiny. Will the artist just pull the tube down and go in less deep? Are those veins deeper than they look? If the ink doesn't get put in as deep, then how do foot tattoos age? And is there any increased risk of infection?...especially if my work doesn't allow flip-flops. ( it's shop work, so I have to wear work boots) Any insight would be appreciated.

hey i just got my foot tattooed and there seems to be no risks. its on the right front side of my right foot. it is a stingy place to get a tat but its different! im 99.99% sure that its a safe place to get it done. i mean i asked them before they saw where on the foot i wanted it that the foot is where i wanted it and they agreed so i guess they would have metioned it if there would be a issue. i was worried about the veins too! anyway i was wearing flipflops straight away and no blood at all. i also had no pain at all after 3 days. it wasnt even that sore after!
good luck
look you can wear shoes like the ones you were talking about. its not like you have to wear flipflops for days and days. mayb 2 days? but u do need to put cream on it 3-5 times a day. d tattoo artist didnt metion anything like it wont last as long or anything. i have to say im looks v. fresh and strong but if u r worried why dont u just visit a tattoo place and ask them in person?
Thanks, that is good to hear. I have talked to an artist since my first post and he gave me a similar opinion as you . I posted on here so I could get a broader point of view on it ,and wanted to hear about other's experiences with foot tattoos...like your's.
Thanks again. Any other advice or experiences from others is appreciated.
I have had my foot tattooed by Nick Baxter. I didnt wear shoes for a few days while the tattoo healed. I reckon you can wear shoes during the healing proccess, but I cant imagine it being comfortable. My foot healed very well, though, its not uncommon for feet to heal badly. For instance, my wife had a much smaller tattoo done on the top of her foot, but she has had it done twice so far and will have to get it tattooed again because it has healed poorly (and we know how to heal tattoos, and the artist is very experianced). So, it is a more difficult place to get a tattoo and heal it, but it can be done with great results. Be forewarned, it may not be a walk in the park.
Where in Texas are you? We can probably recommend a great tattoo artist...
i got a tattoo on my foot a couple months ago, and well he actually told me to wear socks or slippers to keep from infection and only put moisterizer on it if i really feel the need to since your feet are pretty moist anyway...but i have heard many different ways of taking care of it and mine is healed and looks good!
I got a tat on the top of my right foot a week ago and it is taking much longer to heal than my others on other parts of my body. It hurt a little more and bled alittle more, but I didn't get any infection or have any major complications. My artist gave me great advice on caring for it too. He told me to use non-stick gauze pads for the time that I had to wear shoes, but to go shoeless as much as possible. I work in a very casual place that wouldn't think twice if I ran around barefoot, so I'm pretty lucky. Work boots may cause a problem since you probably sweat in them and the tat will need to breathe. My foot is the only place I ever got the "too much ointment" rash. Good luck, but I'd wait until you have a 2 week vacation...
Well, I got a foot tattoo, and it turned into the tat from hell...ended up with celluitis, on 2 oral antibiotics for 5 days, an IV treatment in the ER and 4 more days in the hospital on IV...sent home for 5 more days of in home IV treatment, 5 more days of 2 antibiotics..saw the dr. today and have to take 10 more days of a different antibiotic...I believe it was the tat shop for sure...I have had another one that did not get infected...this has been going on for a month now...probably have the most expensive butterfly in the world!
hey keith...sorry to hear. how did you know it was infected..sorry for a dumb q. but i mean what are the tell tale signs that your tat is infected???
and I plan on getting a leave outline on my upper foot sometime soon ...i didnt read your whole post sorry but was it the dirt shop?? or from putting on socks and shoes too soon and maybe the sweat and being enclosed caused probs?
