age problem..

I'm 15 years old and looking to get a tattoo a little while after my 16th birthday. tons of my friends have them and they still look great, but im wondering, will i grow out of it quickly and regret my choice? i'm anxious to get one, i don't think i could hold off but I could try what do you think?
Yes, you will grow out of it and yes, you will regret it. No doubt about it, there is not one person past the age of 20 that is into the same stuff that they were into when they were 16 enough to get it tattooed on them. It doesn't sound like you'll take the advice, but hopefully you'll remember what I said when you're regretting it in 5 years. I tried to warn you, as I'm sure so many others did as well.
Exactly! I'm only 18 and the stuff i'm into now has changed MAJORY since i was 16, say for one or two things. And that's only just under 3 years ago, as i'll be 19 in march. So i would deff. wait. I still am not inked, but, when i finally am, it will be something i know i will always want. And, to find something you always want, you HAVE to take a long time. I'm still undesided on all but one idea i have. By the time i actually do it, that will probably change too. Don't be a fool like your friends, ink is forever.
Hell yeah, wait for it. It'll be well worth the wait, trust me. I'm sure that well over 90% of us who were tattooed before we were 18 have some regrets about the tattoos we got back then. Personally, i dont regret the design of my first one, i regret going to the guy who did it. If you wait you can learn a little more about the business and the differences between good and bad artists. Most importantly, you'll be able to find a design that you truly love and will be happy with for a lifetime.
Where are yall from that you can get a tattoo under 18 here in ga we cant tat anyone under 18 at all.
i would say definately wait. i found someone to do my tattoo when i was 17 and it got severely irritated and a huge rash broke out and it didnt heal properly. now i'm stuck with a tattoo that doesnt look good and has chunks of ink missing. make a little notebook of tattoos you want and places and keep it til your 18th birthday. whichever sounds the best still get it done then. good luck in whatever you decide
Yeh, i'm in the same situation. I've found a tattoo design that i really like and i'm thinkin about gettin it done next week on my 16th birthday. Its a small skull and cross bones.
HA! 1. You should NOT get a scull and crossbones, concidering you probably only like it because of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie that came out, and it's stuck forever. 2. You don't know what you like yet!!! 3. My guess is, the tattoo won't look good, concidering you are 16 and I, from reading on here, have come to the conclusion that no respectable tattooist will tattoo a minor. So, the tattoo will look like shit. Don't be stupid and do something as permanent as a tattoo. Use a pen if you have to, but don't be an idiot
If only there were a law that requires anyone under the age of 21 to spend just one week in a REAL tattoo studio seing all the coverups and bad choice tattoos (and just BAD tattoos period!) I think there would be many less coverups and a lot more happy inked people T
nah man.. i know that the tattoo i get will be something i'll like forever. i was gonna get a cross on the my you know just below the next. but dont get all jumpy on me, cause i changed my mind and decided to wait due to your good advice. thanks, but i'm gettin one before i get outta high school, so i guess its gonna have to be when i'm 18!
man i musta been high or somethin when i wrote that, anyway i meant to say on my back just below my neck (hidden by my shirt) lol
im 16 years old and i want a tattoo on my back .... i want one sayin daddys sweet angel because im a real daddys girl! ... i dnt think i wil regret it but i wanted to kno ... do you think its a good idea... sorry if i havnt put it in the right place but hey atlest im askin for an opinion!!!!
there is so much to getting a good tattoo. We suggest learning all you can about tattoos, artists, and save your money for a few years so when your ready to make the leap you can get a truly amazing tattoo from and amazing artist. If you spend the time doing your research then you will be rewarded by a quality tattoo (you are not very likely to get a good artist to work you otherwise...)
It doesnt sound like a bad idea for a tattoo but here are a few things to keep in mind: If you wait till your of legal age, you stand more a chance of finding a good artist who will be happy to tattoo you. Many tattooists are a little leary of tattooing minors and generally dont want to give them something huge when they're still growing and trying to figure out who they are. Second, you may think that the design you have in mind is great. You go get it done and everythings wonderful...for a while. Then you see something else that could have done the job better and might have made your tattoo that much more interesting. Now what? Your're stuck or you have to cover it up to go bigger and better. MOST teenagers are fickle, indecisive, and more spontaneous than Michael Jackson on a spending spree in Toys R Us. And MOST would also beg to differ, and argue that they are SO mature and would not make the same mistakes as everyone else. We've all been there and we've all said and thought that at one point or another. Its all a part of being a teen. If you check out some of the previous posts on this board regarding age and tattoos you'll see that damn near all of us who were tattooed before we were 18 or 19 or whatever have some sort of regrets about our tattoos and most of us wish we had waited. We're trying to educate others and teach them not to make the same mistakes if it can be prevented. Some people are never going to learn and will go ahead and do it anyway. They'll learn the hard way. I'm not saying that you're magically more responsible the day you turn 18 vs. when you were 17, but at least that way it'll give you some time to think about your design and seek out an artist beforehand. There are also lots of people who have been tattooed at 18 who have regrets and in some respects the longer you wait and the more research you do, the better a tattoo you'll end up with. Hats off to you if you read this far
Hi i am 18 now and chose my tattoo that i want to have in this month. i want to go to gym and grow my muscles a little bit but because of this i am not sure if the tattoo will look bad or grow or something like that when i do this. also when i will be 25 or older, will the tattoo look bad if my body gets bigger. i think that u got what i am afraid of. thank you
Not even gonna touch this one.
Hi its Kerem again. i think that u did not understand my question. i mean that i am 18 now and little bit skinny and i am not sure if my arms will grow and therefore the tattoo will spread or something like that and look bad in the following years like when i will be 25 or more.
Yeah, get "daddy's little Girl "across your chest and then in the next few years you'll have a couple kids, breastfeed and...........the rest is history! man I'm crochety tonight! NO...16 is to freakin young. Get a tee shirt that say;s daddy's little girl. Seriously, ask yourself why you need that on your back at 16? I doubt it will impress you daddy at this age. Let's see, when i was 16 I would have picked a big ass heart with "I love Julio" in the middle. BOY would that have been a mistake since I married Marcus!
M, It has been said before on this forum and I will say it again...one more time. No and I mean NO legitimate artist will ink someone under the age of 18...period! Yes you might find someone that will do it but read above sentence...the word right after "NO". Nough said....damn sombody gonna slam me...I feel it comin. M
Sit back and enjoy the ride M. I've been saying the same thing, so has Taz, so has everyone else, but it never ceases to amaze me the reprobates who will try to legitimize doing this to a minor. Let the entertainment begin...
