just wanted to say thanx for nothing. you guys make it a point to put your work up everywhere, people making me think that im not good enough to tattoo because i will not. well guess what i didnt need to spend money for what i now how to do. i was hired as a full artist at a very good shop and what i didnt know i now do. if your in orlando check my work out at hot spot of orlando on idrive. SOME OF US WANT TO SELL OUR WORK NOT GIVE IT AWAY.
umm, I guess your talking to me? And, um, your welcome for nothing I guess(were we supposed to do something?). We do promote tattoos and tattooing as much as we can, and it certianly help generate business for artists, but there are also plenty of great artists who dont post their work online. I dont really care if you do or not, but you are stopping yourself from getting more work if you dont post your portolfio online... As far as getting something for nothing, you know you get what you pay for. congrats on landing the gig, I hope it work out well for you! Next time Im in Orlando I probably wont stop by, mostly because I dont know what your tattoos look like! for better or worse we wont be recommending our visitors go to you either cause we have no idea about the quality of your work (which is unfortunate, we get a coupla requests for artists in orlando every month) "SOME OF US WANT TO SELL OUR WORK NOT GIVE IT AWAY." You really shouldnt be lecturing me about how to sell tattoos, Ive pretty much devoted half my life to hooking up tattoo artists and clients. And, umm, thats why we charge for our work and dont give it away. Becomeing a successful tattoo artist *can* be done without promoting your portfolio online or in the magazines, but its much harder. good luck in your quest!
Now to say that you walked into "Hot Spot" and got hired as a full time tattoo artist thats saying nothing about your work except that no decent studio in orlando would hire you. With all do respect "The Hot Spot Of Orlando" is by far the worst shops in orlando by its reputation. Its a head shop that tattoos on the side thats owned by a middle eastern that doesnt have anything to do in the industry. Sorry the owner hires anyone, he doesnt look at portfolios or cares about the work that all 4 of his stores puts out as long as hes making money it doesnt matter. To say your working in one of orlandos leading studios and then say its hot spot people will just laph at you. I;m sure that you probably walked in to many decent studios in orlando such as Solid Image, Built for Speed, Devotion, Evolution, Adreline...... (just to name a few) they looked at your work in your portfolio and wanted nothing to due with you cause all you were was a kitchen magician a scatch artist and had alot to learn... so you got frustrated no studio in orlando would hire you..... then one day just looking around you walked into Hot Spot they didnt look at your portfolio and told you to start monday and to bring your "guns' (i think thats what you call them in a post in the past)........... good luck
Tattoo studio........ and a head shop now that sounds like a hot spot lol
whats wrong r u racest. feel bad about your self? it should not matter who ownes a shop what matters are the artist, and saying that they have the worst rep in orlando is false. the worst shop is owned by a white man whos shop is not clean, has kids who fuck up every tattoo that they do. and gabe you think i give a fuck about you or your fucked up website, but if you do come in ill be glad to tattoo your forehead with "jackass" and the other guy with " white power" FUCK YOU.
first off, i will never for the life of me understand someone who comes on forums like this one bitching and moaning for someone to just fucking give them an apprenticeship for free... and then bitches and moans when someone won't give them one... but more importantly, how the hell someone looking for an apprenticeship ends up with a muthafuckin' job instead... i will never, ever fuckin' understand that. how the fuck is it one or the fucking other? if you are seeking an apprenticeship, how the fuck did you ever end up with a job? i'll tell you how. the person who hired you knows fuck all about this industry that i fuckin' cherish so much. that person, regardless of ethnicity, should not be allowed to run a shop... especially if they continually hire so-called 'artists' as yourself. at your point in your career, you should be lucky to be a fucking jizzmopper. i almost never speak badly of other shops. i have been in this industry for far too long and know better because the tattooing world is far too small for that bullshit... but i will most definately make the hot spot of orlando an exception to my rule. i am familiar with his business practices... in all of his locations. my favorite of which, is the one situated inside of a gas station in kissimmee. the owner of hot spot is a boil on the ass of this way of life. he has nothing to offer anyone in this industry, except for a way to perpetuate bad body art and spread disease. i know that for a while at least, he had no autoclave, as he bragged about it. what the fuck is that about? this is the great place that hired a great tattooist such as yourself? hahaha. you may be able to fool yourself, and unfortunately as a business owner he is fooling a lot of tourists... and this is a sad statement on this industry as a whole... that any greedy, dumb-fuck asshole can open a tattoo shop because they can afford to pay the licensing fee. how are his "other" businesses doing? maybe i'll stop in one of these days and check out your awesome portfolio... and buy a fuckin' bong... oh, i mean "waterpipe"... while i'm there. i seriously wish you the best of luck... because you're seriously gonna fuckin' need it. if you really cared about this sacred art form you'd realize that. of course you don't, so fuck it. do what you want. you're gonna anyway. you've come on here looking for assistance and told a lot of amazing artists who care about tattooing to fuck off. you really have forever sealed your fate. have fun selling drug paraphenalia and pretending you're a tattoo artist. just remember, when you're least expecting it, something's gonna creep up on you and skool yo' i'gnant ass in respect. that's not a threat. it's a promise. someone's gotta pay the tattoo gods after all. p.s. ya might want to fuckin' learn how to spell apprenticeship before you go out and get one.
Wow, I dunno why Im taking the time with this. You will learn it makes all the difference in the world who owns the studio. I know from personal experiance that you can have the best artists around in a studio that has one of the best reputations and if the owner goes off the deep end, the artists suffer and dont have the oppertunity to be all they can be. The studio owner is the head honcho, captian of the ship. Its their business, thier space, and that means a lot. Maybe you havnt learned that lesson yet, but its a hard one. I dont know the studio your in, and while Im a big fan of the old smoky smoky, tattoo studios that are attached to head shops dont do the art of tattooing the justice it deserves. Who knows, the shop your in might be the exception to the rule. But it might not be. "gabe you think i give a fuck about you or your fucked up website, but if you do come in ill be glad to tattoo your forehead with "jackass" and the other guy with " white power" FUCK YOU." Wow, I dunno what to say! I dont know or care if you give a fuck about this website! I doubt there would be any cirumstances that I would let you tattoo me, though. When picking an artist I feel that personality is very inportant, and, well, I would want you tattooing me (well, I dunno, the internet is a wierd way to communicate, Im sure your a fine person in reality). If you dont like it here, dont let the door hit your ass on the way out. You could learn quite a bit, though, there are a lot of folks who have a lot of industry experiance involved with the site. Just wondering, though, what you find fucked up about our website? this is the first time in years that someones called the site fucked up... I wanna know why!
Hell I was gonna let this one fly by without bothering to reply, but I just cant. First from what I understand you were looking for ways to get an apprenticeship, on this site and couldn't get any real help because you didn't have a website that anyone could see your work on. You took this as an offense, and took it upon yourself to take shots at others, mainly Tattoo Now for there lack of caring for your situation. Aint that a bitch. Firstly what the fuck are you doing on an open forum looking for an apprenticeship! Get out there look for one on your own! So many people looking to break into this business are looking for a hand out, or the back door. Heres an idea, put together some art and impress another artist to teach you. Don't walk around with your freaking hand out, acting like if you ask enough, someone should give you a chance. Secondly, fine you slipped through the cracks, some shit hole shop gave you a shot, NOW's the time to shut the fuck up, and make us eat our words. Prove to all us uppity tattoo snobs that your really that good! That no matter what the situation, you belong in this business. Even though you came in looking for an apprenticeship, and walk into a full on tattoo artist position. Cause if that's the case I don't give a shit that you think your working for a good upstanding shop owner. Who the fuck allows some kid off the street who wants to learn, take a machine and start tattooing regular clients! Here's a suggestion, if you really wanna learn take some time put together and art portfolio and earn it. Don't just take the short cut way and jump in a seat and start banging people up. Theres enough shitty tattoo's and dumb asses out there fucking shit up for the rest of us! All the best... J.Capobianco www.joecapobianco.com Hope Gallery New Haven CT
yes im an apprentice at an excellent shop and all the stuff i go through to earn my way into this buisness is going to make me respect it a lot more than someone like you...good luck, ill go vomit in my mouth now
"Just wanted to say thanxs for nothing" ..Alright let me say your welcome on Gabes behalf because by now he probably wont be able to do so (like i could blame him)...By now your muttering "what the fuck for" and the answer stares you back in your face yet your to blind to see it , this man afforded you an opportunity to aquire a position in a already flooded market and as im sure you already know your correct he charged you as you say it "nothing"!(oooh that stung) Secondly maybe people are not" making" you "think " your not good enough , maybe that deep down inside "you think your not good enough!" I will tell you this the smartest thing you typed with those little dick beaters of yours was that you didnt need to spend money for what you know , that would have been money ill spent because son you dont know shit! Im going to clue you in on one more thing and then you can thank me for nothing because thats what it will cost you...."some of us dont need to sell our work because it "sells" on its own!" Now I will let you get back to figuring out how the needle goes in the tube Glenn Vail The Hole Experience Baton Rouge La. P.S. It is only considerd a portfolio if there is more than "one" picture in it.......If you hold up all of your fingers and then close them all except your thumb ...thats "one"
