Licensed professional tattoo artist, experienced with flash & custom street shop clientelle, seeks rockin' established Oregon, California, Washington or Florida studio to corrupt. I draw well, like to learn new things and play nice with others. I'm house-broken, don't harbor annoying taste in music, I'm not chronically late/sick/miserable to work with and have the added bonus of being very patient with tattooing first-timers. I have a BA so there's formal art training too. If you'd like a down to earth artist, rather than a rockstar, I'm pretty easy to get along with. Best of all, I don't smoke so a you can keep that last cigarette without fear I'll try to bum it off you.

Let's get real here. I hate to be the voice of reason You don't actually expect anyone to hire you over the Internet do you?
I hate to tell you that you are merely an artistic ATM to shop owners and if you don't have enough experience & talent to win awards/magazine recognition (in which case you wouldn't be looking for a job this way), no one is gonna want you to mark up their clientelle and ruin their reputation just so you can get better in vague hopes you might someday be worthwhile. I don't care how nice you are to work with.
After all, there is zero reason for any shop to take a chance when they can wait for a sure fire seller. Seems to me, if your name isn't something akin to Marcus Pacheco you might as well give up now. It's not like new novice artists are even needed given the glut of talent experienced artists out there barely making a living now.
Why don't you just do freelance illustration for ad firms anyway?
Well first of all, it's true I'm not famous, but that doesn't mean I can't put on a clean tattoo and I can't make a shop owner some money.
Second of all, it is also true I'm not as experienced as the hard-working artists like Marcus but that's hardly a reason to give up and give in to the corporate monster is it? What would you have me do? Kill myself because I'm not as experienced in tattooing? Please!
Those folks started out somewhere too. They worked hard, someone probably gave them a break at some point, and they earn the respect they deserve for their art and they have the added benefit of having started sooner before the market became over-saturated. But everyone -and I mean everyone- who's any good started out a novice. It's not like you break out of the womb with the tattooing skill of a Joe Capobianco or a Steve Moore. Everyone claws their way up from the bottom and the strong survive right?
As for the Internet, it's better than putting an ad in a newspaper. More exposure right?
sounds like a tattoo off! Lets see some pics.
but seriously, here are my thoughts. first, the internet is a fine way to get your portfolio into the hands of studio owners. We have a lot of folks looking for tattoo jobs, and a bunch of studios looking for experianced tattoo artists. You wont "get the job over the net" per say, but you can certianly make contact. That said, the "Im a good guy to get along with" pitch needs to have a portfolio to back it up, so lets see some of yer tattoos!
So, you need to be real good and hustle hard for as long as it takes to make it in the tattoo industry. Nothing comes easy or quickly in tattoo. Most inportant part is to keep pushing your art wether your a newbie or a seasoned vet of the industry. Lets see the art!
Yeah, you're crazy...Who would get a job by using the internet? That's stupid...Oh wait...I just landed in a great shop by posting in a forum. Hrmm...Maybe you're not so dumb.
Of course, I had an online portfolio to point them to so that helped. Good luck and ignore the naysayers. :)
" Seems to me, if your name isn't something akin to Marcus Pacheco you might as well give up now."
wow
that is one of the most amazingly fucking retarded things that I have EVER fucking read.
i just finished a nice and succesful spot contacted by this forum. but lots of good pics were needed. if u are really good then dont need to give up!!!!!!
thanxxxxxxxxxxxxx mario!!!!!
Hey Mr. Dutch Tattoo Man, shoot me a url with your tattoo pictures. I get lots of folks from the low countries asking where to get tattooed, and we dont represent any tattoo artists over there. We love the low countries, and want to help you as much as we can. Have fun!
Well...here's a few photos of tattooes and art. The art part includes everything from pinup to realism. Anyway, I'm honestly no tattooing god but I believe I can handle the hearts and roses for a shop who needs such a person.
