Artists in Seattle area?

6 messages · last activity 5/26/2008

Hey all, I've got the itch, and I'll be on the opposite coast from where I usually am, so I figured I'd look around and see if there was anybody I could get work from who I wouldn't normally get the chance to. Also, the bf is looking into getting his first tat. Mine would probably be something "natural", I'm thinking about a fern. His is going to be a pretty good-sized shoulder piece of an owl landing on a post, he wants it to look as much like the original water color as possible. Jack at Apocalypse Tattoo has a raven on their site that looks close to the style he's looking for. Any advice on who would be good to do this sort of work? The custom artist section on here is kind of limited when it comes to WA. Thanks!

Pretty much everyone in those places uses a traditional aesthetic. I don't see many examples of the kind of work I'm looking for, although I'm sure they probably could do what I'm looking for. Does anyone have suggestions for artists who have different styles?

Maybe I'm being anal-retentive, but with all my other tats I've had an artist that I knew I trusted first. It would be really really amazing if you could tell me anything about these artists! Ok, here are some people I really like the work of-- the top of my list: Alycia at Modern Body (I REALLY like what I see here)? Jeff Hayes at Rival Tattoo? Joey Remmers (@ the convention). Anybody know him, what do you think? Also, any details on these people?? Chris at artcore (thx for the suggestion!). Can anybody show me pics of his work? There's a kind of limited selection on the site. Damon Conklin, supposed to be very good, am I right? Alexis at Laughing Buddha?? Bryan $ Will at Spidermonkey? Jared Shealey? THANK YOU
I haven't met any of the tattooers i recommended,so i can't say if they have a good reputation in the industry..I would make an apt.for a consultation with the artists you like, and see which person you connect with.. I really like Brian and will's work at spider monkey.. Jerad Shealey does real nice color work, and his style would work well for what you wan't. I checked out www.joeyremmers.com He does nice work, but he's booked up for a few months.. You can see more of chris's work on his myspace page when you click on his page on artcores site.. Ruby does nice paiterly style color work at vyvyn's.. It's hard to develop trust for an artist that you never met, unless you know of someone personally who has been tattooed by the artist..I would ask the people who live in Seattle when you get there, who they recommend.. I'm sure youll meet plenty of tattooed people just walking down the street..
