I ve been tattooing for about seven year in a shop.Just in the last 6 mounths I have been breaking back springs every 3 to 4 weeks.I been using the machine for about 4 year rebuild it 4or5 times? It doesnt seem to matter how thick or thin of a spring I replace it with it breaks. Replaced capacitors, and coils .any ideas would be helpful.

Springs come in gauges a .018 front spring with a .017 rear spring will work great for an all purpose machine . Maybe you need to check youre spring gauge , if the rear spring is too thin, it will break...
Thanks , I cut one a little wider,Buts its only been a couple of weeks..
do you bend you main springs or do your machine have an angle to the spring shelf?
As silly as it sounds, you may have the spring washer lower than the height of the spring deck causing the spring to over flex when it hits back towards the top edge of the washer.
Try to use a square washer or at least a round washer that ends right at the top of the spring deck creating an even sandwich between spring deck, spring. and washer.
Also make sure that the whole surface of the spring is pressed towards the deck by the washer, some times if you use a small washer the only press point is in the center of the spring slot causing the spring to weaken...grrrr ...what a mess ...
I bend and cut my own. thanks I have a dime thats cut 3/4 on there now . I know its something Im over looking it just started 6 mounths ago. thanks for the advise.
