Background or not

I have a sacred heart/dice/banner tattoo on my inside forearm.I'm wanting to turn it into a full sleeve of old school stuff, dagger and flowers with a banner on outside forearm, couple of swallows on upper arm. I also have a large celtic knot with waves and sun around it on my sholder. My question is to tie the two together, old school sleeve and existing shoulder piece, should I go with a Japanese wind/cloud background starting from my shoulder piece and spirraling out and down. I have discussed this with my artist and he thinks it will go together nicely, I just wanted to get some other feed back. http://www.inkednation.com/saoralba not got my shoulder piece on there yet.
