Bad Decision...Help x.X

Ok, so, my father, the man that gets queasy when he looks at my tongue ring, turns white at the sight of needles, and got on my mom when she got her first 2 tattoos, now has an appointment either July or August 1st to get his first tattoo....and guess what it is..... *drum roll* a tribal arm band! Only, made more fashionable with an advertisement for his website worked into it. Now, the website helps him with his work, and it's something he has passion about...but i'm trying to steer him away from the tribal part. He sells cars, so i was thinking maybe some vintage/new hot-ass car with the web adrdress as the decal across the top of the windshield or SOMETHING other than a big black tribal.... I think after he gets it he will regret it and then he will have a hard time getting rid of it.... any suggestions on how to get a mountain to budge?
Maybe you could send him to this thread after it develops a little bit, and he will see how many people are trying to talk him out of it, and that will be that. As a graphic designer, logos and corporate identity are what I do. I change the branding of most of the companies I work with about every 4 years. I'd change my own branding even more often. So, needless to say, I'll be the first to jump on the bandwagon and say, don't do this Dad! Plus, the tribal has just been done to death. I am all for him getting a tat, but I don't think this is a good idea.
Well I know some guys who, for the right price will come and.... ya prob don't wann do that huh?
I once read a quote- Armbands are like Mullets, I thought that was funny. Also, it's gotten to the point that beer commercials make fun of them, so if that's not going to be the hint that they're way beyond trendy, he may be stuck in his way, so if he is, then he deserves an armband and when he regrets it, oh well.
We do coverups!
I know we cant tell anyone what they should and shouldnt have tattooed on their bodies but i REALLY want to steer some (if not all) of my customers away from armbands, tribal barbed wired or otherwise. They've been played out for years and they DO NOT flow at all with your body's natural shape. Not to mention how many tribal bands are damn near impossible to cover up and a nightmare to add on to. All these things considered, why the hell are they still so popular. Krystof made a good point with the beer commercial! That shit needs to go! Is there any way i can steer my clients away from these stupid tattoos without offending them?
