Heya - wondering if there's any Singaporeans reading this board too. I'm looking for a third tat and have something in mind but I want an tattoo artist who is a real artist - someone who can do shading and greys really well.
Any recommendations from S'pore?

i'm looking for the same kind of artist and would be thankful for info as well.
not from singapore, but spend a bit of time there.
scott from shark tattoo in serangoon gardens is excellent, and one hell of a nice guy.
also, richard at johnny two thumbs, i think it's in scotts plaza.
Body Decor @ The Heeren Shops
I've had two done in Singapore before.
One was an arm band with minor shading. This one was done by a nice chap but I honestly felt he wasn't as skilled - he goes by the name of Brown. Made some minor mistakes on a fairly intricate celtic pattern, and at some point, likely tattoo'd too deep (uneven).
Second one was done through the recommendation of another friend. This Chinese chap by the name of Malvin. He is top-notch and used to work at Primitive (Far East Plaza). I'm uncertain if his shadings are any good but his work is precise and he works quickly, accurately, and confidently. As I've never had done anything with shading by him, I wouldn't say he's the best for what you need (from personal experience) but hope this at least helps you decide (and stay away from some).
Hi discolite - what kind of tattoo are you looking for
Joseph from Visual Orgasm, Expensive but tattoo is a life time kinda thing, worth every penny invested. His shop is at Parklane.
John Nithi is a good artist, really good in black and grey, if u want can call this number +6581588749
John Nithi isn't anywhere near good in my opinion. For Black and Grey i'll go to Jerry of Sacred Needle in far east, For Japanese it would be Nikkuhori of Galaxy tattoo in china town, color work i would look for a guy name Edmund, he works in sacred needle from monday to wednesdays.
I think Panadoll gives a v good and honest recommendation

Other than those mentioned above Jaws from Johnny Two Thumb is good too.
Just my two cents worth.

I agree with Andy & Dominic.... Joseph @ Visual Orgasm does beautiful work. His experience in graphic design shows with the way he composes his artwork with balance & symmetry. Great examples on his website of shadings. I was there 3 days ago to get a demons tail bursting from my chest & the end result is perfect. Also, happy with the price.... you do get what you pay for. They have moved to new address... 2 Haji Lane. Also, nice touch is the free touch up (if needed) within the first 3 months!!
Galaxy is located at 16 Temple Street.

Hello there,
Yep I have to agree Joseph at visual orgasm is expensive but hell he is worth it! He did a freehand biomech on my chest, i did not see a design prior to getting it tattooed but it was worth the risk. Next to him I would recommend elvin at elvintattoos or oliver over at acid crue.
You can find Joseph at Haji lane he has moved here from parklane
try these studios gimme love, visual orgasm body decor ,8 volts and utopia

Hi I'm looking to get a sak yant tattoo in Singapore from a real Master. Does anybody know where I can fine someone here.
Must be thai
thks rick
Just back from Galaxy hoping to collaborate with Niccku on a sleeve to compliment the one i got 5 months ago in japan after seeing his work online, and:
The guy who is not needling someone is too busy to speak with me and holds the entire convo through an intermediary, Julie, who was nice enough but dude, you think im going to let someone ink me for life who doesnt have the time to invest 5 minutes from his busy day to speak with a customer, screw that.
So I tell Julie I want a derivative of the traditional japanese tiger to make it look more like a real tiger - not a portrait, just not a tiger shaped more like a serpent then a muscular cat, traditional japanese tigers tend to be distorted and have smaller heads then the real thing as there actually were never tigers in japan and they entered japan via word of mouth and drawings only, via July Nic tells me that he's not comfortable making it more realistic as it deviates too much from traditional japanese. Hey mate I hate to break it to you but all of your work is derivate and not traditional, its good and thats why I was considering working with you, if i want traditional i go back to japan, your work is bolder, waves & splashes significantly larger and more colourful then traditional japanese, so why not try to make a tiger look a bit more realistic and not like a half snake/half tiger...anyway, im glad you like horiyoshi but you are not him so you should enjoy and embrace being derivative, not pretend you are not.
Seperately I paid Oli at Acid Crew $50 to draw me up something and he copied it right out of a book which I enjoyed seeing in the waiting area at Galaxy, cheers, enjoy my $50 Oli, you are obviously a true artist and filled with integrity.
So I'll take the advice of some mates on a few other local artists, but beware the authentic irezumi wannabes out there, if you want good irezumi go to japan, if you want someone creative who can work with you incorporating traditional elements with more modern colour, technique and design, keep looking.
hi....i will be goin to Singapore shortly.....hav a tattoo on my left shoulder which i want to extend....itz a black one but in the extension i was thinking of using some colours....that would go along wit the black....what i really want to know is the average rate of getting a decent tattoo done......i mean....how much does it cost to get one done.....if the design (per sat) is a very basic one???.....is it calculated in square inches???......can someone plz help me out wit this....
thnx
regards

I know this guy in Singapore named Master Jobahotchi, which means snakes urine in Singaporanese, He does some good work. He did my penis tattoo (grapes on a branch) he was also my lover and I got a tattoo of his name on my left butt cheek, I also got his dad's name on my right butt cheek, but thats another story ;). Lets just say 3 is better than 2. We've been through a lot together. Sometimes we tattoo each other in bed with the lights off, fun stuff :D.

Reguarding Visual Orgasm...
I Did a tattoo (My first one) recently, but I was not soo enthusiastic...
Very expensive, and often is not Philip who did the tattoo. I dnt think the other member of the staff are at the same level of Philip.
And they didnt told me anything about how to take care of tattoo after the work was done...
At the end, I dnt think Visual Orasm is better than others... For sure not for what u pay.

I just want to add, that my tattoo is very small.
A coloured flower on my back.
So I dnt know about big tattoo. I found that for my small tattoo its a bit too expensive.
Anyone know of any good new school / cartoon artists in Singapore? There are a few great black &grey and portrait artists, but so far I've had no luck with new school.
If you are in Asia (Singapore included), I highly recommend my artist, Ms Apple Qu at Travelling Tattoo Asia! I really dig her water color style tattoos and she does other really nice genres as well! I had a chance to get inked while in Singapore. My last check was that she now travels a lot throughout Asia and does gigs in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore Malaysia, and many other places. Visit her website at http://www.applequ.com/
