Hey -- I'm going to spend some time travelling and am looking to base my itinerary on visiting the best tattoo artists worldwide. In your opinion, who is worth going to see?
Best Tattoo Artists Worldwide

Great idea, but with one big problem. The best of the best have months, even YEARS long waiting lists. So if you dont plan on staying in one place for 3-12monhts, there will be only a slight possibility that if you book times now, that they will all fall some weeks of part from eachother. And some of them arent even taking on new clients at this moment. But, I am bored so I will give you some names anyway :)
Shige (Yellow Blaze Tattoo studio -Yokohama, Japan)
Robert Hernandez (Vitamine Tattoo, Spain)
Electric Pick (Conspiracy inc. Copenhagen, Denmark)
Filip Leu (The Leu Family's Family Iron STREET SHOP, Lausanne, Switzerland)
Boris (Boris Tattoo, Zalaegerszeg, Hungary)
Petri Syrjälä (Art For Life, Helsinki, Finland)
Rudy Fritsch (Original Classic Tattoo, Trieste, Italy)
Tin Tin (Tin Tin Tatouage, Paris, France)
Steve Moore (Vancouver B.C, Canada)
Theo Jak (Infamous Studio, Stockholm, Sweden)
Tomas Tom (Into You Tattoo, London, England
Paris Pierides Paris Tattoos -Nicosia, Cyprus)
Rain Partlow (Strange Fruit Studio, Bern, Switzerland)
Lus Lips (Berlin, Gemany)
There are some from many countries
In addition to the list above, I'd like to mention a few names as well (excellent list by the way). Most of their work and info can be seen on this site under the tattoo artists tab.
Pavel Angel of Russia
Nick Baxter of Brandford CT
Joe Capobianco of New Haven CT
Eric Merrill of New Haven, CT
Joshua Carlton of Indianapolis IN
Robert Pho of Las Vegas, NV
Ryan Downie of Las Vegas, NV
Bob Tyrrell of Toronto ON Canada

Believe me when I say that there are several more to be added to the list, these are the only artists popping out at me at the moment. It seems like every day I have the pleasure of discovering a new talent that to me, was previously unknown. That is the best thing about this industry.

this is beautiful.
With a question like that i find it hard to answer not understanding the best at what?To me a guy that only does portraits or copies images is a total different artist then someone that creates the art from scratch. For what i like i have to say Robert Hernandez is the best artist at siting there with no reference and creating excellent art.And i am sure there are many more i never heard about.have fun looking there are some kick ass links listed above from others.
I don't know how I forgot to mention:
Jeff Gogue
Monte
Also...
Stephane Chaudesaigues out of France I believe.
He is one of my favorite artists, I want nothing more than to have a piece by him.
Marcus Pacheco and The Grime currently both at Primal Urge in San Francisco.
If your dream is to find the best tattoo artist(s) in the world, then you should book a ticket to Japan. Sabado and Genko are the finest of their trade, and after only nine years of work (under the master training of Sabado himself) Genko may be the best natural tattoo artist on the entire planet!
