Well be sure to let us know when garver starts as ur apprentice and and then i MAY check ur myspace.
I didn;t say mywork is better then Gavers,it is as good ,and if you have an eye for art you would see it as amazing art work, If someone says HEY you draw like so and so, and if that person is good then that is a complement to you, that is where the came from, can't help myself if I am doing such a great job on peoples tattoos and they complement me on them. My work speaks for itself,,,THANKS
Not to throw you down but your attitude will not get you far in this biz. Humble yourself, drop a gear down, your work is no where near to Garver's or any other great tattoo artist. Although you could become a great artist one day.
I see a lot of fake skin work, specially the Kat Von D fake skin work tells me that you should stop watching TV and hit an apprenticeship.
You may have been "Born To Drill" with a Black and Decker but now you need to Learn "How to "Tattoo" with a tattoo machine.
Honest feedbacks will help you grow, "Mom's feedback may not"
lol, lol lol lol lol lol lol thanks for the note
I will also recommend you stop tattooing humans in that environment.
You seem to bee tattooing over chairs and surfaces without barrier film, your machines are laying over unprotected surfaces, I see dirty needles laying around, ink splatter all over. All these things are a great example of "how not to tattoo"
What type of autoclave do you own, brand model capacity and what kind of cold sterilization products do you use to clean your area?
What is your after care policy?
Holy Moses! Is that Anna Nicole or Marilyn Monroe??? or some Transexual that got into very bad accident & reconstructed his face... Everything is way off proportion. Damn, you think you're so good eh, open your eyes man.
lol lol lol lol lol lol Man you are funny
It would be nice if people who posted things like this ever validly answered questions about sterilizing equipment and autoclaves, etc. They think they're amazing but avoid the important questions.
I looked at your work, and yes you are a very talented artist, thats obvious, you're tattoos are ok, but need work, ESPECIALLY as far as using proper precautions to avoid cross contamination, and other means to guarantee infection control.
You're attitude however, is terrible. If you think you know it all, you're never going to learn more and you'll never get better, which is a shame because it seems as though you do have potential.
I've met far better tattoo artists then you with about one tenth of your cockiness. Bring it down a notch, open your mind, ears and eyes for advice and opportunities to learn. You'll get much farther that way.
Good luck.
this guys myspace link isn't working. and im just dyin to see his stuff to see if hes just an ass with a huge ego or actually any good. he sure pats himself on the back enough i wonder if his arm hurts.
ok i just found your page. your work is fair at best bro. certainly nowhere near garvers. and your cocky attitude is ridiculous. i like your drawings but the tattoos are mediocre at best. and your work area is filthy!! im not tryin to bash you man but you need to get off the high horse you're on and get a reality check. i expected alot better work for all the bragging you're doing.
What all those other people are saying is an undertsatment. Your work is elementary, your attitude is awful and your work environment is horrific. If you came looking for a job when I owned my shop I would have laughed you out of their. What rose colored glasses are you looking through that you think you are even on the same planet as garvers. You are totally insane and a danger to your customers. BORN TO DRILL? I can't even find works to describe how fucking diluded you are. If anyone thinks this is too harsh read his message and imagine what his work would have to look like for that attitude to be appropriate. Then look at his work. YOUR A FUCKING JOKE (litterally, everyone here is laughing hysterically)
Oh and that saran wrap bullshit has got to stop---- it most places it is illigal to use saran wrap as a bandage. It's totally disgusting and quite detrimental for the tattoo. Not to mention the festering fluids that drip out of the bottom. I know there's some controversy about it but most proffessionals will tell you that its BAD. That whole thing started at biker events where the only reasoning behind it was that people could show their buddies the tattoo without taking the bandage off early. There was an article about that in pain magazine a few months ago i belive, but thats a subject for another message board.
Some of these comments may sound harsh to your cocky ear but most them are right on the money.
This is what it pisses me off about these tv shows. It makes any rocker, Emo, star wanna be, think they can really grab a "Drill" and be licensed to be a tattoo artist.
On top of that I don't know what kind of black in you are using but that pigment is far from being black. This is the typical scenario when buying shit from ebay without a professional judgement. Don't get me wrong dude, you could become an amazing artist, but for what you show on your site you are doing everything possible to do things the wrong way. DO yourself a favor and don't show this myspace to any shop owner, you will get burned for life. Put up some paper art instead and show this industry that "you can draw anything" (like you said) so someone can consider you for an apprenticeship. You need one really bad.
- First the paper and pencil
- then the apprenticeship
- then the sanitazing measures
- and lastly "the drill"
Thanks for all of the advice,,,,i didn;t realize I was comming off that strong a way about my art and tattooing, thoes pics are 5 years old, haven't had too much time to put the recent pics on, they will be out of my new shop.
Hooooooooooooly Shit... "MY NEW SHOP"
your new shop? great, it's good to know you actually read what people wrote here. FK's list should have ended with
-then the drill
-then working in a proffessional shop for a few years
-then maybe open your own....
I can't understand why you think that telling us you've been tattooing for 5 years would make any difference. In fact it makes you look far worse. It you were claiming a year or less you'd be right where you should be. If you've been tattooing 5+ years you are WAY WAY behind. WAY WAY WAY behind. I've said this before, time alone does not a good artist make. If it took you 5 years to get to this point it'll take ten more to get to where you might gain some respect. At 5 years you should know that your myspace is nothing to be proud of. Any tattoo artist should be able to draw anything, and your drawings aren't even that good. If you haven't working in a shop then what gives the the idea that you can run one. Anyway good luck i guess, you'll need it. Out of curiosity where are you looking to open?
Like what my mentor said. If you still can't get it in a year, find another career.
thanks everyone for the advice. Its hard to come accross good information,my daughterwrote the coments comparing me to Garver,I would never make that statement.thanks again I just put in an order for some of the supplies that you guys suggested. thoes tattoos are when I first started tattooing. My techincal skills are still being developed, Artisticly,I do alot of orignal art,I am not really a lick and stick kind of guy.lol. Besides the hate mail I would like to thank everyone else for all of the advice.
I read all of the coments this evening, my daughter found this website thought she was helping me, But thanks for all of the advice, my ego is not big,I always have room for improvement and learning,
Hey bro if you think we are going to bite that your daughter wrote this, then you are out of your mind!
Your myspace page says that is pretty new, if so, why would you put the worse of your work.
Like I said no more Miami Ink for you and hit an apprenticeship. For real this thread is becoming more hilarious.
If my daughter use the world Drill to describe the action of "Poking" I would start getting concerned.....
Post some of new work, we would love to see the progress. I am nowhere the best artist out there but been in the biz for a while to realize who's trying to hack in the industry and who's for real.
You need to stop tattooing under those conditions. Health first, fallow the law in your state...tattooing from a rehearsal room may be forbidden in your state, and if it's not then you need to get how to proceed as a pro.
TO be a humble person is an important factor in this industry...to be cocky and don't have material to support your cockiness is a complete turn down.
and excuse my typos...I should hit school again maybe, lol
correction:
If my daughter uses the word Drill to describe the action of "Poking"
you must not have a teenager. Thanks for the coments,,,,,, this discussion is over.thanks again .
Hey, I know you want this convo to be done man, but I just want to say please please above all listen to peoples advice about sanitation, cleanliness, and sterilization. It is KEY. You keep mentioning artistic skills, and learning more about that but for the love of god, I would rather see complete crap tattoos coming out of a clean environment, then see amazing tattoos come out of the one you posted. And even more disconcerning is you posted these pictures on myspace so you obviously didn't even see the problem.
Before you do ANYTHING call the board of health, take some blood born pathogens classes, and put the machine down before you give someone an infection that lands them in the hospital.
For their sake and your's dude, if you open a shop with an environment like that you'll probably not only get shut down, but also sued.
