bruised tattoo or did the ink run?

3 messages · last activity 7/7/2006

i got my first tattoo a little over a month ago. A small "fate" tattooed on the inside of my wrist. At the very top of the f is almost a bruised looking spot. some people are telling me its just bruised and some are telling me it looks like the ink has run? its kind of scaring me. i still love it though. but what happened and why did it happen?
I could be wrong but it sounds kind of like a blowout to me. 'Blowouts' occur when an artist accidentally runs his needle a little sideways or a little too deep in the skin. This results in ink shooting under the surface and away from the intended outline (This usually only happens with outlines to begin with). More often than not it can be rectified by either adding a little grey shade around the area ( when its healed ) or letting it disappear over time. Your body will absorb most of the the excess ink over time anyway. Hope this helps! -Mario J Tattoos by Mario J Lambadi City Tattoo
.............................or, if it doesn't look completely healed, it may actually be bruising. I ran into a problem with healing on my legs, and nearly 5 weeks after the most recent session, there is still bruising surrounding spots that are still trying to heal. I have blowout and running in a few other spots, and the most noticeable difference is that the bruising starts out red, and fades to brown over time. If it's just dark black, then it probably is blowout. TCE
