Bumps on my Tattoos

3 messages · last activity 3/29/2007

I have 2 tattoos, one on my left ankle i've had for going on 5 years and one on my right foot that i've had for 3 years and about a month ago i noticed this bumps on my tattoos. At first it was on my ankle and there were 2 of them and now there is four and the one of my foot there are two and they are getting larger. I saw a doctor who honestly really has no idea about tattoos but she was alarmed because i've had them for so long and then these bumps suddenly show up. They dont itch or anything really. Have any ideas on what it could be??? The doctor said it could be some sort of cancer or something.. THanks for any ideas..
Your doctor is an idiot for suggesting it could be cancer w/o a biopsy. Anyway, I get bumps on my tats sometimes. Usually it's a small ingrown hair or infected hair follicle. Most of my tats are on my arms, but I do have one on my ankle that has never gotten any bumps. I don't always have them, but they show up every once in a while. Go see a dermatologist. A doctor shouldn't be concerned about you having the tat where the bumps are since you've had them for so long so it's obviously not the tattoo that caused them. A good dermatologist will find out what it is with a couple of simple tests.
Thanks for the info!! i didnt think it was cancer well at lease without a biospy. But i did make a appointment with a dermatologist.
