BUMPS???

I got a new tattoo and it looks very good, isn't hurting peeling a bit, but I got worried today when little bumps formed around it, any clues on what this could be??????????

You're most likely putting too much ointment on the tattoo. Ease off of it a bit, use very little. A good rule of thumb is that if it's shiny, there's too much on. You only need enough so that the skin is moist, when you put too much on, you end up clogging the pores around (and in) the tattoo area and presto, the little pimples show up. It may take a few weeks for them to go away. If the problem persists, contact your artist and ask him/her for their opinion.

well if you seen the tattoo you would disagree, the guy that gave me the tattoo has done it for several years, and is damn good at it.

I have 11 tattoos and I did all but 2 of them and my most recent one is on my wrist just a typical tribal band I did about 1 year ago and I noticed I'm starting to get small little bumps on the tattoo just in the middle, there very small I thought it was acne at first but there not and there mostly on the outline just in the middle. Any idea what they are.

Doug and heather, yours is probably not zits from ointment. I would ask your artist first to look at it if they cannot explaine it it might be a reaction to the ink releasing into the surrounding skin. Some people can get allergies to ink years after getting it done. you may need a dermatoligist?

One way to find out if its the ointment...STOP USING IT!! If the bumps go away..there ya go...if not go to the doctor!!...TAz

i have this same problem but i also get bigger bumps sometimes, tho - i got to get ink every other friday since january! now the reason the bumps are there !!! 1-( the big bumps) caused by long period of use of the ointment skin has pores and does need to breathe! sence of suffocation 2- skin type is a mojor part of the issue (do you break out (even a pimple in the area) in the spot before you got the ink) if you have oily glands and pores than yes youll break out more 3- the little bumps occur only during fresh inking from ink type and skin type and ointment appllication the best way to prevent this problem is! 1- wash your area a few times before getting the ink with steemie water to open the pores and clen them out before hand 2- when getting the ink apply light ointment (light ointment) this is very hard to do and challenging to spread but try this when appling ointment dont be afraid to go heavy than patt off with a paper towel! 3- caring for you inked area - try washing several times a day to remove - oil, dust, and any other contamination! do the same when starting to use non-fragrance skin lotion for the same affect - your skin is exposed to more contaminents when you have ointment and or lotion on due to it being like a fly trap or a magnet for exposure to stuff like germs,dusts,dandruff,fumes, vehicle fumes, smoke, purfumes and so forth any thing you can see in the air , smell in the air , and a high percentage of things you cant see in the air ! 4- do not let other poeples skin touch you ink till fully heald even when sleeping and or cudlling! 5- clean your sheets and pillow cases close to daily! 6- change your clothed area evertime you wash your ink! 7- do not let you ink touch and forien matter walls, animals, kids, and or any othor substance! 8-do not touch your ink with your hands unless cleaning prior to touching! and clean your hands thoroly! 9- try a light patting of alcohol on your ink before applying ointment and remove all overkill of the ointment! yes it is possable your skin is reacting to the ink, but take note these steps should lighten the ratio of bumps that may arrive when getting new ink please note when getting a heavy amount of ink in a small area is like clogging the toilet! shit will come up!

I got a new tatt less than a week ago and now I have been putting ointment on it and lotion and I probably have been putting to much on and this is causing little bumps around it...so I will stop that...but my skin is peeling like a sunburn but no color stays is that the way its supposed to look after a few days...does the color come later...I have 4 this is my 4th but the others are in places I can't see.
