Hi, I've always wanted a tattoo. I always thought it was a phase and that I'd grow out of it. Now that I'm 36......I've realized that it's not a phase and that I'd like to get one done. My question is....can anyone recommend a good, reputable place in Monmouth county, NJ. I live close to matawan and keyport. My husband had one done by FatKats and it didn't come out straight.
I'm looking for a design on my lower back that has a Mehndi influence on it. Thanx for your time.

I dunno. I live in Colorado. That sounds HOT though. Welcome to the club! Congratulations on your decision! I got mine this last year at 40, so it's never too late!
You could always start by looking at the artist link at the top of the web page to see if there is anyone near you. The nice thing is that you can sneak a peak at their work too. They also have contact info for each artist. That way if none of them are close you could perhaps contact them directly and maybe they could point you in the right direction. Best of luck and happy tattooing!.....J

Hey,
That's funny, I too am 36 and thought I would "outgrow" this idea. I am now getting a depiction of the Monkey King on my calf. The king is just symbolic of my little boy (who I am just totally in love with). Anyway. I looked at about a dozed places in NJ and finally decided to go to NYC. The village has some great spots. I am going to Invisible NYC on Orchard. I thought the work is outstanding and I was treated really well while hanging out, asking questions etc. The guy doing the work is named Andre Malcolm
Where are you in NJ?
Oh Jersey, how I miss you.
I don't know if the place is still open, but there's a shop on Rt. 46...I forget what town it's specifically in, it might be Ledgewood, it might be that teeny town just before Ledgewood but this reccomendation is going to be full of alot of vague details so hopefully you can get something out of it :^P Anyway, there's a shop there whose name I really don't know that used to be operated by Mr. Vetter, I say Mr. because he was the father of one of my teachers in high school and I never learned his first name. In any case his son is/was a wrestler and has a huge back piece with wizards and dragons, etc. I always thought it was the coolest thing going. My sister got her first tattoo with him too (the dolphin incident) and although the subject matter was lame, it was a beautiful tattoo and lasted her for years and years until she outgrew her dolphin phase.
Anyway, if you look him up, you won't be dissappointed, although it'll probably take some work to find him. Anyway, enjoy Sussex county while you're looking, my beloved homeland :^P
