color over black

I have a tattoo that has a few area's of solid black, i dont like how there is so much black in it and I wanted to try and put some color over it like white or yellow or any color that would show up that best over black, anyone know how well the color will show up over black? or which color would show up best over black? I know it wont be nearly as bright but will you beable to tell what color it is, how visible will this color be?

I replied to a question similar to this some time ago. From my experience as a tattooist, solid black tattoos are usually only covered by dark colors or more black. There are a bunch of tattoo artists who will cover solid black with bright colors like yellows and oranges but MOST of the time it wont take and the black will still show through. Your darker colors, of course, like purples, blues and so on will do pretty well. But i really wouldnt waste time trying to get a bright color bomb out of it. Find a good artist with a good portfolio who has done cover-ups on solid black for his opinion. All hope is not lost. Hope this helps
