What do you guys think about using commission artists to create artwork for a tattoo. I have an idea for a "ganesha" that I want tattooed on me, but I haven't found a drawing I like, I've thought of having an artist do some commission work then taking it to my local shop to get it done. What do you think? Do you think that this presents a problem for the tattoo artist? Should I just be able to find a good artist, give him my idea and expect him to be able to draw something up?
Technically a comissioned artist may not know what translates well into ink, which may also hurt the tattoo.

tattoo artists ARE commision artist by nature....find one in your area, it wont be hard
These guys are likely to just tell you to take your idea to a custom artist. The artist will have a better idea of what will translate well, and will be more enthusiastic about doing the peice this way :)
I'd take in pictures that evoke the same feeling and elements as you are looking for, and try to find someone who has the talent to bring your vision to life :)
