Concidering Tattoo on hand...need insight

I'm concidering getting a little image i drew tattooed onto my left hand. The placement would be between my thumb and pointer finger. It is not going to be on the web part, but about a half in above that and following that curve. Has anyone had a tattoo of this type done? or does anyone know if it should be very painful?
