Considering this for first tattoo-

Hey there, What do you all think of this for my first tattoo? Ive been posting about runes and such a little lately, and this is a mix of the aegishjamlur with runes on the ends of the arms. I dont know how it would look on a shoulder, but you guys are the experts =P I also was considering the valknot besides this, but am swaying towards this more.

Dude, love ya man, but I still say, you ought to think about doing something a bit more "expansive". I tell ya. It's addictive. Now, it's none of my business, and what you have is fine, but my job is just to sort of warn people that it starts with a little symbol, but soon, you may wish you had sleeved up! Just something to think about....

Hey, thanks for the reply and concern man. Im gracious that you are lookin' out for my best interest, haha, but, im pretty young and this will be my first ever. Dont exactly want some big thing to start with =P. And even so, i'm sure there would be a way to build off of that since it'll be on my shoulder/upper arm. We'll have to see. Theres a whole other arm there anyways ; )

But just to reiterate... you think that ones alright? As in, lets say hypothetically I never get another one on that arm or anything, you think it's a cool looking tattoo and whatnot? I like it, but I dont want something everyone who see's it thinks it's ridiculous =P

honestly, i think it looks pretty cool. and you seem to be really into, which is always good when youre getting inked. i dunno, maybe my opinion doesnt matter :)

I like it just fine, but again, it doesn't matter what I think. It's wether or not YOU are nuts about it. Think of it like this. Look at your design, and ask yourself, is this something that every time I look at it in the mirror for the rest of my life, I'm gonna say "Fuck ya man, that's awesome". If it makes you feel good, it can't be wrong. I think my tat is intense!!! And since I love it so much, that wears off on my personality, and my personal confidence. If your design does that for you, you've probably got the right one. If not, think a little while longer. It's not a race.

I like it a lot...I think a custom artist could make it a bit more well...artistic but if YOU like it...do it...its classy!...TAz

Thanks guys, all good confidence boosters about it =D. Yeah I definately like it a lot. Tomorrow im going down to a tattoo shop a friend got a couple at and looked good, just to check it out and possibly show the guy the design and see what he can do with it. Thanks for the help again. And yes, to the last poster, I definately will discuss ways to make it a little more ornate/artistic. Seems a little too plan to me as it is in the picture.

That last poster was Taz... as in THE TAZ THE MAGNIFICENT... King of the Water Babies, Lord of Tazettes, Ruler of all that he surveys... in some circles, he is simply referred to as "He who shall remain nameless" in others he is called "FIFI" but no matter what he is a hell of an artist.....

By the way.. anyone think that it looks too "Native American"? A friend kind of pointed that out to me that from afar it may look like that, and i kinda see what he's saying. Maybe in black it'll look a little less like that, but otherwise, anyone have any ideas on how to de-Native Americanize it? =P

It has a bit of native american flair but not so much as to negate the runic taste...TAz

Okay, now I'm gonna throw down the can of whoop ass on you that everybody else threw down on me about a month ago when I was going through some serious self doubt... If you are the kind of person who is confident enough to get a tat in the first place, you will be entering into a new life where you will not be seen as the same by yourself or anyone else. If you are confident enough to do that, you should be confident enough to hold your head high, and not worry about what other people think. Where is your spine???? Let's see it!! NOW!!!!

Alright, good.. people probably wont even know what it is when they see it anyways, but i'd rather not be thought of as having a Native American tattoo.. even though I am a bit Cherokee; i'd rather show off my German =P. And yeah, hopefully in black it will look less native American.. I think the red doesn't help.

Oh no, its not that im not confident. I would just rather have it look more German/Nordic than Native American, and when it was pointed out that it looks kind of like that, I could see what he was saying. It would make ME feel much better knowing that others knew it was more of a norse thing, not because I really care what people think but.. well, Lets put it like this (warning: terrible analogy incoming) You have a really awesome shirt from some random metal band or whatever that you like, yet many people think you're representing some shitty rapper that you hate. (Like I said, terrible analogy, but it's all I got). Doesn't matter what they think, of course, but YOU want to represent that band, not random_shitty_rapper. See what I mean? not really a self confidence thing, I just want it to be taken like it's meant to be.
