I have a Fighting Irish tattoo above my right ankle. I would like to have it covered but am told that whatever tattoo covers it must be dark and cover all the outline as this is in black. Is this true? I am open to design ideas for the covering tattoo but would prefer something celtic in origin.

There are some amazing artists in the uk. Search the forum archives for past recommendations and find the very best. You could also hit the tattoo with a laser one or two times to open up your coverup options.
I love replying to cover up questions. You can make an unwanted tattoo into so much more if you have the right artist and the right client( that's you ). Look around would be my first suggestion, take some time and look at pictures of great cover up tattoos, everyone seems to think it has to be done in tribal or solid black splotches , and that's just not the case , most of the time. Gabe's got a great idea wth the laser treatments before hand. Ask an artists , ask a thousand artists, and never forget about what went wrong to make you want to cover up the tattoo to begin with , no sense in repeating the same mistake twice.
I'm writing for my sister, who has a tattoo she's interested in covering up. It is a black heart outline with initials in the center. She isn't necessarily interested in the expense of removing it, but will consider redesigning it into something else.
It is about 2" square (approximately).
Any ideas or places that are good to look online?
