Covering Up A Half-Removed Tattoo

5 messages · last activity 3/16/2005

does ANYONE know of any information regarding the cover-ups of laser removed tattoos? do the lasers change the skin? any information would be greatly appreciated. i have a large (and once gorgeous) tattoo on my forearm. i have had about 9 laser removal treatments. it is now a big horrible mess. what was once beautiful is now a green, greenish gray and blobs of pink mess. i really wish i had never had gone through the process, and i feel as though i was lied to about the end results. i dont even want to go outside with my arm exposed (and i live in florida!) any info would be great! thanks!
Hey there you can easily have a removal covered up with a new tattoo. Like any other cover up the tattoo underneath will dictate how good the cover up will work, and what you can do with it. You'll need to find a competent artist, and be open to ideas. IM not sure why you started getting the first tattoo removed but keep in mind what you get is what you end up with, so be sure your happy with what the artist comes up with for you. Unfortunately your choices are kinda limited when it comes to covering something up. One other thing to be considered with your case. Under normal circumstances covering over a lasered area isn't all that difficult, when the removal was done by a competent laser removal specialist. There are cases when a removal leaves scaring that will affect the new tattoo going on top. If your artist know what he's doing he should be able to give you a heads up before he starts. Best of luck to ya. J.Capobianco Hope Gallery New Haven CT www.joecapobianco.com
I would check out any of the TattooNOW artist who will be attending the Tampa tattoo convention. Check out our tattoo conventions list to check out portfolios of our artists working the show. I'd take a peek at their portfolios and see the different styles. Contact a few of them and get em a pic of the tattoo, and let them know what you would like to put over it/ how you would like it reworked. A talented tattoo artist will turn that frown upsidedown!
Oh, and Phil Holt tattoos outta Tampa when he isnt galavanting around the globe. :-)
