Creating a portfolio

Hi All I have started to build my portfolio and im just wondering what i should include? Should i just draw whatever i feel like, or do you think there is a range of subjects i should cover, and if so what categories? Thx
Well I would definetly focus on what your art skill is. You will definetly need to learn all forms of art but focus on what your great at. When doing a portfolio make sure everything you have in there is the best they can be. Dont waste your time or the artists your going to give it too. Also make sure you yourself wants to learn from him/her. In my portfolio when I was getting my apprenticeship I had 15 full drawings. About 6 of them were kind of wall flash ideas I had. I also included the stencil work for all of them. Go buy some simple transfer paper and include all the stencil line work with you pictures. It will help give the artist an idea of where your at on your skills. I also included a certificate of the Blood Born Pathogene class I took. That is optional but you will more than likely have to take the class eventually. Good luck to you and I hope this helps ya. Anymore question let me know.
What are the best pensils to use when making drawings? Any recomendations!
Prizmacolor are great colored pencils. Also get a set of black micron pens. They come in packs and each one has a different size nib on it. They're great for outlines (You can get them from Amazon). For black and gray drawings, you might want to get an assortment of graphite pencils. You can buy them in sets and they are different shades. Don't forget to get a good eraser, also a kneeded eraser and some blending sticks...and a good pencil sharpener. lol
Thx for the advise Gina. It turned out that the old pensils i had was useles and i really need prisma colors ASAP. I searched around, and mannnn... are there some different prizes. One place i had filled my shopping chart for $85 to find out that they would also charge me $90 for shipping!!! WTF. I ended up going to amazon, i missed that you wrote that in the first place, and they were deffitnely the cheapest provider i could find. $45 for 72 colors, but also very expensive shipping... $75 :-0 But i cant find a single shop in denmark that sells these suckers. I have also found an australian shop where i can get the big package with 120 pensils for $216 and the the shipping is free, but i havent decieded what to do yet, so im gonna look around some more. I have spend hours now and i feel like im wasting my time, but i just think its quite a large amount of money for pensils! I will update when i make a purchage :-)

Alright, found a very nice cheap store. I found out that these are not sold anywhere in Denmark so i gotta pay for shipping. I have ordered 132 prisma colors for $108!!! very cheap compared to the other places ive looked at. I also ordered 16 pigma micron pens for $32. Shipment varies, and they will mail me what it will cost but i still think its a pretty good deal, and i dont want to spend anymore time looking for pensils lol. I really look forward to getting them. Everybody are speaking very highly of them in all the reviews i have read and i need some good pensils to make a great portfolio so i hope its a good investment.
You won't be disappointed. I'm glad you found a decent deal. :) Another key to using Prizma color pencils is to invest in a really good pencil sharpener. The cheap ones will just keep breaking the lead of these very expensive pencils. Also, with the micron pens - DO NOT make the mistake I did and go over your black lines again after you have colored your drawing. I ruined my micron pens that way and had to buy a new set. There's a GREAT free site that can help you with your drawing, check it out: http://www.drawspace.com/ I love this site.
That site seems awsome Gina thx
