curious about tattoo

my tattoo is about a week old and i have 3 other tattoos and i know how to take care of them. the problem or curiousity i have is that it's starting to itch, which to me is odd that it's healing this quickly, so i started putting lotion on it, yet i looked at it this morning and around some lining it's still reddened. so my question is do i keep up the a & d ointment or the lotion? thanks i appreciate the great feedback i get from this website.-Ericka

is it scabby or flaky? If so, put lotion on it, if not, continue with a very small amount (about the size of a tear drop, not a coating or layer) of A&D.
