custom artists/conventions

ok, first of all let me say i have a great deal of respect and admiration for all the tattoo artists on here. after foolishly getting a tattoo without thinking about it a couple of years ago, i have put a great deal of time and research into finding a style and a number of artists that i like. however, i live in england and most of the artists i have seen come from america or asia so my only real option appears to be getting work done at a convention. so my question is, is it possible to get a large scale custom piece done at a convention? and would i need to book with the artists prior to the convention? or how easy is it to travel to other countries to get tattooed? i would really appreciate any help you can give me
*so my question is, is it possible to get a large scale custom piece done at a convention? * --> yes, although it does depend on placment, the artist you choose to work with and how they create their art, and how well you can sit *and would i need to book with the artists prior to the convention?* --> generally yes but again it depends on the artists I would suggest that you want to enquire about availability and also start to dicuss your ideas with the artist in advance of any appointment whether at a convention or not * or how easy is it to travel to other countries to get tattooed?* --> mainly this depends on finances. good tattoos don't come cheap and bad airlines are as expensive as good ones haha what kind of tattoo are you loking for and what artists inspire you???? maybe there is a great artist closer then you think!
There are plenty of awesome artists in the UK, Im kinda embarrassed we dont represent any, but we've tried! Sean woods (I think) might be a place to start. Ack! You will need to hook up with an artist before the convention I imagine, it takes a while to draw large custom pieces...
