custom power supplies

I just got a beautiful footswitch from Lucky Supply at the Montreal convention, but when I got it back home, I realized that it's a woeful missmatch for the rest of my station. It's so old timey and handcrafted, and the rest of my setup is plain utalitarian...worst part is the power supply. Even the dolled up power supplies from Lucky are kind of bland. Has anyone here custom modded a really cool power supply? Maybe gutted an old radio or remade a decorative tin or a victorian starionary box? I've been preoccupied with the idea of it all day.
I have seen a older style telephone be used. The dials were the voltage dials and the receiver was the clip cords. He was selling it for 1000usd. Waste of money...but a unique item
Sometimes it being a unique item is what makes it worth the money. If I had the cash, I'd buy something like that. It sounds like a really cool piece.
