this is what i ahve planned for my arm. dont pay attention to that green thing in the bottom or the signature. i also want some starburst rays in the bg too. also the script will say DAD instead of his initials and in a differnt font...
did you draw this? personally i like it. but it comes down to you. where are you going to have it placed? have an artist picked out yet?
i was just fooling around in photoshop. this is similar to what i want with the rays. and i need to add the flames. i have a few artists in mind....know of anyone good in the baltimore area?
You have a good idea though a fairly common idea...I would suggest that you take this design to a competent custom tattoo artist and have him/her convert it to a design that would lend itself to being tattooed a bit better.Custom artists do this everyday and can be a tremandous help!!!...TAz
i honestly don't know anything about any of the artists in md.. i more familiar w/nj artists and a few delaware ones. however, there is a gentleman on here - jtat or joetat - who seems to know of every artist in every state/locale/country. hopefully he sees this!
That guy is a fuggin ENCYCLOPEDIA of tattoo artists!!!
honestly..... was your dad covered in new school work? was he into stars and hearts and what else is in that picture. When you think of your dad is this image what entials of him. Think of who your dad was. I think it would mean alot more to him and you if it was much more of a bond. A memorial piece is personally sacred. I shouldnt look at it and be able to understand the symbolism. It should be between you and him... Not a flash looking piece... not to down on your artwork or concept. especially if he really was covered in new school tattoos or hearts or stars or whatever.
no my dad is still alive. he has battled and overcame cancer and last year he suffered a heart attack and is still healthy and well... he loves the water and cars.
Good point Vishu!!...I kinda dropped the ball on that one man...but you picked it up!! Yeah man you really should put a lot of thought into this....maybe a heart (because of the heart attack) like its painted on the side of a badass car thats driving through some killer waves!!!
i read that comment and thought about it some more...i still like the heart idea but did a quick design... i might do blue rays instead of yellow...i still want to incorporate "DAD" and a heart in there somewhere. ...any ideas?
YES!! on the door of the car!!!
Yeah, I agree.. my dad just beat cancer too man, and I agree with Taz and others... He's just too important to me to trust something like that to my skills... I'd take it to a custom guy, and like these dudes said, tell em all about what your dad means to you, and why, and stand back and watch em work!!!

Bryan, If you're dad is still around and kicking, why not have him go WITH you to a custom artist?? I mean hell, you're getting the work to honor him -- he might have some ideas too. He might not even realize he has an opinion on something until you meet with a custom artist. Get him involved in the decision making process. It'll make the tattoo mean that much more in the long run. That's just my 2 cents.
did you draw that car? if so. WELL DONE, its great.
Great idea Bee!!! All that hotness and brains too!!
ha i try Taz!! gotta make up for my lil cleaning routine goof up somehow eh? ;)
