Does anyone know what the potential health risks of getting a tattoo are? Someone told me that if you get one, it makes it dangerous to get an MRI or Cat-Scan later on, or other such thing. Is this true? Is there anything else about it that is unhealthy?
Dangers of Tattooing?

I just got both an MRI and a Catscan last month without incident from tattoos(I did get compliments from the nurses/doctors though). If you get a tattoo from a reputable artist (you WILL go to a reputable artist I hope) then there is little health risk. Some folks may be aloergic to some inks, but again, go to a real sharp professional and they will be using the best quality inks.
in some states you cant give blood or plasma for a year after getting a tattoo..as far as x-rays, surgeries and pregnancy ,they will usually have you take out any piercings.
like gabe stated, most established shops will be using quality
inks ,and a reaction is uncommon if aftercare instruction is followed. *dont go rolling around in filth!! heehee
the most frequent reaction ive encountered is with red ink
usually on black people,or in some allergic to penicillin.
-they need a specific red ink mix. inform the artist of any allergies
or medications youre taking if not asked on the release form.
also, watch the artist pull out fresh needles, inks etc.
hope ive helped!
