David Bollt Tattoo's

For my own personal knowlege, I would like to know what you guys think of his tattos. Sometimes I see his work, and think it is great. And other times I see his work and think that it mediocre.

I think it not only depends on the design but who did it. Some of his stuff is fun to do and comes out great, I've seen fantastic pieces of his done by one artist, and the same piece done by a different artist that looked like ass.

i personaly (emphasis on personaly) think bollts work is amazing, on paper. dont get me wrong, i love his tattoo work, i have some on me, but the way he designs his work, doesnt seem to be for tattoos. the wild color shades, pastels, water colors. if someone came up to me and asked me to do one of his pieces exactly as is, i wouldnt be able to, and i wouldnt even attempt, because then it turns into a bollt ass peice like you were saying ealier, that and david bollt, despite his art, is a hippy.

I also have his work on me. I do love the colorful images he portrays, but instead of all of that color put on me, I went with just a touch red. It turned out great and it looks more realistic (I got a piece from his butterfly collection).

Boldts designs are great but it takes a very skilled artist to tattoo them as they are designed.

Now are you guys talking about his DESIGNS? Or are you talking about his designs that another artist tattooed on someone? If someone else tattooed his work then whether its good or not kinda depends on the talents of the artist thats doing the tattoo doesn't it?...I mean you can have the best design in the world but if the tattoo artist sucks the tattoo will suck!!

It certainly appears he expends more artistic energy creating his amazing flash, than with the tattoos applied. Not saying that's bad... just that alot of artists shift focus from one medium to another (and back again) at some point.

I personally have never actually seen a tattoo actually DONE by Boldt... I will have to look that up!

Ok just checked him out, yes david Bollt DOES tattoo but only as a hobby, his main work is traditional painting and photography. The few examples of his tattoos that I found were at about the same level of his artwork which is amazing! Peolel just because a popular flash artist does flash does NOT mean that he is responsible for every tattoo done by another "artist" from one of his designs!

DavidBolt.com is his site. I love his original art and paintings. Its truely amazing. I do appreciate his tattoos, though Ive yet to see the color candy goodness in his tattoos that I love so much with his original art. I havnt seen any pics at least...

yes as far as the color tattoos done buy david,,he prefers to tattoo black and grey only..very seldom will he do color
