Do tattoos cover up freckles?

I googled and came up empty. TIA.

DEPENDING ON color most freckles cover quite easily...just never ever tatoo a mole!T

I have a fairly large piece on my lower back and in my experience no, they don't cover up. If the color of the freckle is darker than the ink (brown is pretty dark) then you'll still see it.

G'day, I don't really care if you can see my freckles or not through a tattoo, but what concerns me is if the tattoo appears to 'cover' the freckle, can a skin specialist still detect a skin cancer developing? I have had a LOT of SCC's and BCC's removed and this question has always stopped me from getting my long awaited first tattoo. If anyone has solid factual info on this I would really appreciate it as I don't wanna die cos a dragonfly masked my skin cancer!!!
