Is there any sort of topical cream that will ease (or eliminate) the pain when I get my tattoo that won't interfere with the process itself?
DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A TOPICAL CREAM TO DECREASE THE PAIN WHILE GETTING A TATTOO?

If you can't stand the pain, you don't deserve the tattoo.
"If you can't stand the pain, you don't deserve the tattoo"
YET AGAIN - utter dross on this website - are ALL you people morons? Clearly the above poster is talking dog dirt. Idiot.
lol, its called wait until your dick actually sprouts some hairs before you bother going back in for a tattoo......
lol, nah there are a few different products on the market which will do what you are after but it all depends on your skin type etc, best people to speak to about it belive it or not is a doctor or pharmicist.... they understand what process happens and what creams have a negative effect (such as oil based vs water based)
um, yeah gaz, whatever. Theres no real way to alieviate the pain. Some artists migt use soemthing after hour 5 or 6 to give the clients a little more time, but most of the numbing agents dont work well, or make the skin all rubbery and nasty to tattoo... In short, if you are scared of the pain, wait until you arent. Its going to hurt, but thousands of people do it everyday.
"If you can't stand the pain, you don't deserve the tattoo" is my opinion as a tattoo collector, not tattoo artist. there are some things out there that claim to make tattooing painless, but i'm sure if they really worked you'd already know about them.
And Gabe, it's really a shame how hostile this site has become as of late. i can't read a thread without someone calling someone else a fucktard or telling them they suck at life. its pretty disheartening.
I wish I could remember the name of the cream Durb used when he tattooed me because it certainly helped. You could contact [email removed] and ask him. Of course it didn't completely alleviate the pain, but it sure helped.
I agree with the hostility comment. What's with the tough guy crap? You know what? It hurts and who can blame a person for wanting to alleviate the pain. Not to mention if a customer is in pain, and sitting badly it makes things much harder for the artist.
I don't know why everyone is so quick to jump up each other's asses about stuff like this. If a numbing cream can make the experience better for the artist and the client why the hell not?
roobydo - brown nose.
gaz - immature
Mary - most people who are asking for numbing cream are probably not prepared to get a tattoo and are worried about the wrong things. A client should be prepared to get a tattoo despite the pain it will cause. Most artists wont use numbing creams for a variety of good reasons, and the ones who do very sparingly to help the client get through a short period.
In short, you need to mentally prepare for the pain, and if your worried and nervous and think you cant take it without numbing cream, then you probably cant. If this is the case, one really needs to work on their brain and courage and get some faith in your body to take the pain. There is no magic "take the pain away" cream... Its gonna hurt.
gabe - sell out mother fucker.
Children --- behave now
It should be mentioned that of the few products that actually work before the skin is actually open, some cause the skin to puff up to varying degrees and most need to be apply frequently and fairly heavily to have much real effect-which is why most experienced tattoo artist won't use them. Even the stuff you can only get with a prescription is more of a hassle than it's worth, both money and time wise.
that's reasurring coming from the expert. for everbody's sake - STOP acting like you know what you're talking about.
gaz, i'd think it should be rather obvious no one here is impressed by anything you say so why don't you take your own advice 'STOP acting like you know what you're talking about.' Some of us are trying to use this forum for what it was intended, which you are not contributing to in the least. Can't you find something more productive to do with your time, perhaps Russian Roulette?
Yeah Gaz, seems like you have too much time on your hands. Feel free to add your educated opinion about topical creams anytime, these remarks of yours make you sound like a disgruntled 13 year old.
Gaz- You may call it brown nosing, i call it respect for the person who's turf we're on, or general decency, or professionalism, or just being a nice person.
I'm sure i'm not the only person who thinks its annoying that every thread turns into a pissing contest.
Tattoobydo - it is unfortunate, public forums need to learn to ignore the trolls. Its a shame how one person with too much time can drag shit down, but hey, the focus of this website has always been the tattoo galleries... thanks for hanging out.
