hell is any one else tired of people that pick out ugly tats and want you to do them i am people walk in and want them and i tell them no is that wrong give me some info
Let me get this right...you have flash on your walls and you get pissed cause someone wants it?? This one takes the cake! But yeah keep turning away that work especially now at a time you should be ecstatic ( that means happy!) for any work at all. I can understand turning down a piece if it is morally offensive or there is some real objection but it sounds to me as you have appointed yourself the tattoo police. Yeah you see the big names doin all the neato spiffy stuff...did ya ever stop to think how many cutesy little roses and how many tazmanian devils and all the other shit tattoos all us old fuggers had to do? DID WE LIKE EM?hell no ! But we were glad to have em cause sometimes they paid the rent. Don't be a tattoo snob dude...make every tattoo your own and put your soul into it....It will pay off. And remember everytime you turn down a tattoo that person won't forget and they tell their friends and they tell their friends and they.... well you get the picture dontcha?...T
Well, nobody can force you to do any tattoo you don't want to do, but remember, what means the world to one person could be dumb in your eyes, so make sure you use your best judgement when discriminating based on your opinion. We all do tattoos that we'd rather not do from time to time, it's all part of the life.
You're going to learn a lot about being a tattooist real quick with that an attitude like that. I'm not trying to be rude at all, but being a tattooist isnt completely about doing what you want to do all the time, especially if you have flash in your shop. Thats like putting stuff on your lawn with a huge ass sign that says its free then wondering why people are taking it. I've been tattooing for almost 3 years now and i'm still relatively new to it as well. Like many people who like to be artistic with their work, i wonder why people choose some of that tattoos they do but i dont judge them or rag on 'em for picking an 'ugly ass' design. Thats what they like and thats what means the world to them. If it bothers you that much, ask them if you can design something cool and different for them instead.
people arent always going to come in looking for the work you want to do. they are coming in for a service and you are there to provide a service. if youre a new tattooist as your screen name states you should be glad to just be tattooing and working. you need to learn to educate your customers. sometimes if you take a little more time with a customer you can end up doing something that you and the customer will like. also unless youre a phenomanal artist its going to take quite a bit of time and hard work to start doing "cool custom stuff". that usually starts when you dont turn business away. ive done quite a few things that werent the coolest but you know what that person came back and got something else and i got to know them a little more and the next thing you know we had a half sleeve or a cool chest piece going on. if you cant work with the general public now it doesnt get any easier in the future.
