End of Internship + First day of the semester= body modification

Well folks, the end, she has come, tomorrow I will no longer officially be an intern. I'll be a tattoonow lackey instead. I made it through, and I don't totally suck so hurray. Today was unfortunately the start of classes. Or fortunately, really, I actually like school. It's just the commute and the school administration that I hate. This semester I'll be taking Commercial Art: Production Techniques, American Literature through Twain, British Romantic Poetry, and Senior Writing Portfolio. American Lit and the Senior portfolio are the last two requirements I have to fill before I can get my degree. So I'm taking the other two for fun mostly, and to help me with my subject specific GRE which is supposed to be hell on wheels. So, to commemorate the transition into senior year, and the end of the internship, and the fact that I like holes in my body, I went after class today to get my lip pierced. I got it done at Just a Little Prick in Decatur, IL. I chose them mostly because I love puns and double entendres, and second because my soon to be sister-in-law got a fairly nice tattoo there. The girl who pierced me, Autumn, was really sweet and competent , and I came away with a nice shiny ring wrapped around my lower lip in the center and a pound of sea salt from the health food store. Everything was very clean and lovely and I got to show off my tattoo which I always love to do. So hello transitions, I hope I've marked you well.
College Lit.... ewe, icky, bleck, heave, heave, convulse..... Good luck with all that jazz! And yea! On the new piercing.... just don't go around kissing any frogs for a while =P
Lit is your friend! *Beats you with her Norton Anthology* And when jogging at night, your 12 or more volume anthology makes a handy crime deterent. I have to say, it feels pretty weird, granted, I've only had the thing in for about an hour and a half. Do you think I should avoid kissing in general for awhile? I was kind of thinking about that, but I mean, it can't be much worse than food or any other bacteria laden thing I normally put in my mouth. Mmmm bacteria.
You cann't kiss anyone ever again...you'll die..... OMG not the Norton's Anthology! I thought I would never hear that again in my entire life.... *shudder* As long as you are swapping spit for hours on end, the standard sweet-pea peck isn't going to kill you....completely. =P
Buddy, I've got every single anthology too! There's like 5, 2k page books for every literature discipline. The Norton Anthology of British Literature, The Norton Anthology of American Literature, the Norton Anthology of World Literature....you get the picture. I love them, really, but they cost an arm and a leg. Although this year's was cheaper, about 80 bucks new, rather than the 130-160 that they usually are. The thing that depresses me is that I basically have to memorize all of them. The subject specific GRE for Lit is like the LSAT, except not for pussies :^P I asked my advisor about it and he basically said that is was better that I didn't know what was going to happen until it was over. Kind of like making sausage, or massive surgery. My aftercare sheet says that I can't kiss anyone or do any sort of, uh, oral pleasuring until the initial healing is over with. Which I think works out pretty good for me, when I think about it.
you coukld kiss with it. aslong as you do the mouth wash thing. it probly wouldnt be any good thoigh and would hurt alot.
Guh. Norton Anthologies. I think I sold mine and recouped some of the cost... but all that money for several PARTS of books... eee. I'm sure it feels good to be a senior, though. Just a little more and you've made it!
Well my piercing is migrating, it basically did it in one day. Stupid swelling. I have to go back tomorrow and have my jewelry switched to larger stuff. Lame, I hate my body abandoning me when I'm trying to adorn it! So, is the piercing going to be up high where it migrated or are they going to somehow ease it down again? I was honestly trying to avoid breaking my lip line so I didn't have a scar there if I decided one day to let the thing close up. Anyone have any idea about that?
Well, anyway, I got the jewelry changed out for this huge cbr to help with the swelling, which has gone down alot. It looks like the hole moved up some...but not too much for me to want to take it out, have it heal, and try again later. It really looks like I have a hook in my mouth, and it's pretty weird looking, but in a couple of days I should be able to downsize again. So now that I seem to have that under control, does anyone have any of the custom body jewelry information? I definately have to get a shiny or three now, to , uh, spite the swelling or something like that. I know you must know something Gabe! Of course I could call, or email, or something like that. But eventually you'll read this and be totally on top of it, like the information superhero you are.
Sorry to let you down but I know next to nothing about piercing. I like custom tattooing.... :-)
Curses! Might you have a piercer that would know? On another note, the huge cbr has reduced the swelling enough that the jewelry has sloughed down into it's orignal (and no longer pus-filled) hole. Victory is within sight! But I have to say, it looked pretty awful yesterday.
Sorry, no piercer... just custom tattoos! :-) Try calling Kevin from Transcend Tattoo tomorrow if you have any questions that can be answered over the phone...
congrats!!! I remember those new lip-pierceng days (five years ago---almost to the day!!!)...the stupid huge ring that stood straight up because of the swelling...painkillers...sucking on ice-cubes... I remember waking up with a glob of coagulated blood in my mouth and almost faining. FUN!!!! I haven't worn the ring in about two weeks. I'm gonna go and try to put it back in now before the hole gets too small. wish me luck!!! (and just one more--->) !!!
Oh I think the healing's going ok, it might sound worse than it actually is :^P I was just looking for a custom jeweler that does fine jewelry-type cbr's and whatnot to shove into my lip 6 months hence. I just have to get more active about looking I guess...which...is likely not to happen, heh.
Good luck! Things could be worse really, I get to say that my face hurts all the time. Which I think is pretty funny, so I am taking full advantage of the situation.
LOL yup. I remember the face-hurting thing with my tragus piercing. actually, it was the right side of my face, which throbbed. I would have taken advantage of being able to say "the right side of my face hurts", which does sound pretty funny, but I think I was pretty much in tears most of the time. sucked.
***update*** the hole in my lip is now too small for the piercing. (<---that sounds pretty funny) currently searching for a household item that is tapered (but not 2g) that i can use to stretch it back out (don't try this at home, kids). this sucks.
*UPDATE* oooouuuuuuucchhhhhh.....
