One of the safest and best alcohols for cutting inks is straight Vodka. Its cost is what keeps it out of the industry. It can get you drunk, make you blind, and maybe even some of the above. All are somewhat hydroscopic and can be absorbed through the skin into the bloodsteam. However! Its a miniscule amount used during a tattoo. Unless your pouring a fifth down the client during a tattoo whats the prob??? I'd suggest you start reading the labels on all of your food products and just STOP eating. THIS is the kind of propoganda Used by those California Jerks in a lawsuit that almost took ALL the inks off the market and closed the whole Industry.
On a side note. There are several Inks now which are FDA approved and also carry MSD sheets. These have gone through strict FDA testing at great expense to certain manufacturers. Iron Butterfly ink was one of the pioneers. This stuff is ALSO gamma ray sterilized for your safety! This is also I may add the SAME ink sold by some others but under different labels. The Other SAFE ink I know of that's gone through the same expensive testing and approval is Starbright! I am not saying there aren't others. These are the two I am most familiar with. The Iron butterfly is an alcohol based ink and the Starbright is not. All inks however have SOME alcohol as far as I know....including other things which allow there suitability as tattoo inks.
I LIKE ETHANOL!!!!...TAz
Gee John...I wonder....maybe Starbrite and Iron Butterfly are the same damn stuff with different labels?
YOU BETCHA!!!!
I don't believe that they are the same for the fact that I tried Iron Butterfly and it absolutely did not compare to Starbrite. If someone tries telling me that they are the same, then I was sold a bad batch and that is reason not to buy it again.
Not at all! I was told By Tommy not even to Mix them together! Tommy, after working as Vice pres. for Papillon for years, Developed Iron Butterfly independently of Papillon as a result of the ongoing California Lawsuits against Inks, toothpaste, etc, etc, etc.. I assure you..they are QUITE diff. products. Its is OTHER brands of Inks...that are re-labeled from these. Again I cant mention names.
Talk to Chino at Diversified supply Krystof...they are one and the same...he just told me this today and he sells the stuff...gets it from the Starbrite people in bulk rebottles and puts on the Iron Butterfly label...it is the same shit...I have known chino for a long time and he ain't a bullshitter!...T
Of course it is possible I am bein yanked but no diff to me really I don't use either!...TAz
And if Chino is bullshitting I would like to someway prove it because we buy a lot of other shit from him and I do not want to do business with someone who is lyin to me just to sell me something...John...how can I get to the bottom of this and be CERTAIN?
Call Tommy at Tommies supply. I SWEAR. They are NOT the same.As I said earlier Tommy said they wouldn't advise mixing. TOTALLY diff. Inks. You can ALWAYS take to them a chemist for proof. Whoever is saying they are the same is the one pulling your chain.lol. They use diff. pigments, binders etc etc etc. Iron Butterfly was developed because it was feared that Papillon might have fallen to the lawsuit. I like Papillon because it has been around longer and the colors are standing the test of time so to speak. I don't know to much about the Iron Butterfly.
Hey John...Thanks for the heads up and I will definately be lookin into this....Chino gave the same reason for the duplicity in names...that the lawsuit was worrying them and they wanted to have a backup...but I know you and I will take your word on this...
especially since you are buildin my machines DAMMITT!!!!!!!!!!!!...TAz
Taz. I've called Tommy Jr. from Tommies Supplies. They are the makers of Iron Butterfly. I've asked him to come here and straighten this out. Sometime today you should have the answers.
John
GREAT john thanks for the heads up!...My next step was to ring up Tommie but now I wont have to...I guess I was bein fibbed to or maybe it was an honest mistake ...I dunno!
Anyway thanks again John!... and I apologize to all for the screw up!
