Fading?

7 messages · last activity 6/12/2006

I got a tattoo on my foot a little over a week ago. It is a vine of flowers. I did all the aftercare and right now it is still peeling. I haven't pulled off the skin that is peeling. When the pieces do come off though the color under them is very pale. The leaves that have peeled look almost pale brown, while the ones that haven't peeled are bright green. Are the pale ones going to get darker after awhile or will I have to go back in for a touch up?
Callie, You will probably have to go back for a touch up but honestly that is no guarentee that you tattoo will still not fade. Tattoo's on the feet have a tendency not to hold color very well because the skin in that particular area tends to "shed" more than on other parts of the body.
yeah, bring it to the artist after its been healed. Did you go to someone *awesome*? My foot healed near perfect, my wifes been a bitch to keep in. dont stress too much, just go back to the artist and see what they say...
hey buddy, i went to someone *awesome* grrrrrr what do you like your foot tattoo artist better then my foot tattoo artist???? ya, the petals of the daisy on my foot have peeled off twice now, each time they still claim "he love's me" heh
Unfortunately I didn't go to a great place to get it done. I thought it was good until he got started. If I told you everything he did you would cringe. This wasn't my first tattoo so I should have known better. I didn't go to my regular artist because he is in Florida and I won't be able to get down there for awhile. I wanted it done around this time since I just finished my class work and have three weeks to wear nothing but sandals until I start my clinicals. I will not go back to this studio though. I think I will wait until my next school break and make a special trip to Florida to visit the guy who did my last two pieces.
Callie dear you have answered your own question and are illustrating a valuable lesson to the readers of this forum...NEVER and I mean NEVER settle on an artist or a shop just because... 1. they are available right now. 2. they are close 3. you just gotta have it done and your regular guy/girl isn't around 4. they are cheaper 5. your(sister, brother, friend, mom, therapist)said they were good Good luck on the healing tip Callie...hey send some pics when its done please, and thanks for your post!!!...TAz, painted Angel
Its sad to see this experience is teaching you to narrow your artist selection to 1 guy! Im all for artist loyalty, but there are so many amazing artists out there that I dont think its all that healthy to have to go back to Florida before getting another tattoo. There are some world class artists in your neck of the woods, including Joshua Carlton. Matt Birkla and Conan Lea are also in your area and are great artists whom I would trust. The lesson to learn is to ALWAYS do lots of homework, not necessarily that you have to go back to the same artist you already know is good.
