FINISHING OTHER PEOPLES TATTOOS

6 messages · last activity 4/29/2009

whats everyones take on people finishing other peoples work without contacting the artist first? is this just some old school honor thing that has died in this new age??
I think it depends on why the person didn't go back to the original artist. If he wasn't happy with the work, cleanliness or even attitude/lack of proffessionalism from the artist and /or shop then I think that would be excusable and you'd be helping the client out. But if he was happy with everything then I think it would be rather thoughtless and rude to have someone else finish it.
I agree with Gina 85%
i agree for the most part....i guess i could have been more situation specific in my original message... lets say you draw up a custom piece for someone who you have a great rapore with..you get the outline complete cuz thats all they can handle.......and you know you knocked it out of the park as far as customer service/bedside manner goes.....and of course you keep yourself and your client in suc high regard that you cleanliness should be studied by fucking dentists......but you dont see them again for months or years......then when you do you see that John Q. Hack down the street atempted to color it in...what the fuck? I was taught that if you get a client asking to finish work you dive a little deeper with some questions..who did it?...where are they?.....why arent you going back to them? THEN out of courtesy to people in the same industry as you ....give that artist a call...give em a heads up... it seems to be happening to a lot of artists i know...and myself on occasion ...i try hard to educate my clients on quality of work, cleanliness etc....but is the human race just fucking littered with ignorant shitheads or what....... 2012
Well, we dont contact any of the artists whose work we cover every day or every other day... Its the clients skin, and if they go somewhere else, thats there right. Now, if they dont improve the piece and go to a hack, that is kinda disrespectful, but if they go to someone better, then thats their right and you cant really say or feel shit about it. Fact is, its the clients skin and if they want to fuck it it, thats their prerogative. But you should focus on the clients who do want you and recognize your quality work, and dont let anyone who doesnt see it worry you too much, again, their skin, not yours.
My name is Summer Raines and I've spent years looking for the artist who did mine with no luck. His name is Ryan O'Byrne (not sure about last name) and was working in Orlando in 1998. I have an unfinished tattoo that I would never let anyone else mess with. How do I find him? Please help.
