Okay well this is my slight problem:
I'm wanting to get a tattoo sometime in September after my 18th. I have the design picked out but because no one in my family has tattoos(they all hate them) and neither do any of my friends I really don't know what to expect when it comes to price and pain and all. I'm really nervous about just walking into a shop, not only because I look like I'm twelve and that always leads into the most uncomfortable conversation but mostly because i have no idea what to expect. Could anyone give me a little advice?
First Tattoo, I'm In Need Of A Little Advice.

Read the post at the top about getting a tattoo and finding the perfect artist. If you are unsure if you can "handle" the pain, then start with something small. Just remember it will cost more and be more painful to remove. I'm not trying to discourage you in any way. Also make sure you check out the artists portfolio. If one shop is cheaper than the rest you need to ask yourself why? This is one thing where you usually get what you pay for.
Also look at their sterile process process. IMPORTANT: Go to licensed shop! Make sure that any needles are taken out of their package in front of you. There are plenty of people on this site that can give you more advice.
Happy collecting!
Get new friends?...
Ok seriously if your family and friends don't have skin art you need to really consider if you getting one will lead to awkward situations....the reason I say that is you seem to be sensitive ie the "look like twelve thing" ...and if something like that causes you problems what do you think will happen when you get a tattoo and your friends and family see it?...
Just something to consider...and tattoos are NOT for everyone...T

Family forgives... If friends don't like it, I agree get new friends... lol. Serious TAZ is right for your first I wouldn't put it someplace visible. It doesn't have to be something you show off. The tattoo is yours and yours alone. If you care to share it. It's your choice. Family is generally more approving/forgiving if it doesn't show.
Have you decided on location? It will make a difference in the amount of pain.
