i got a tattoo on my foot about a week and a half ago, there is like a chunk of skin missing from the middle of the tattoo, and my foot is sore to walk on ... do you think it's infected ? and if so what should i do besiddes see a doctor ?!
let it rot off !! seriously ya got a chunk missing? could be cpl things overworked bad after care both while i am not a doctor of medicine i would highly recomend to keep it clean and bandaged if raw skin is exposed ya know the chunk area.wear very loose shoes elevate as much as possibile apply a&d ointment at least 2 xs a day ibuprophen as needed ice.if a green or yellow puss emits from area this is a secondary infection and antibiotics may be needed and see a doctor.or better yet just go see the doc
indeed, you can't wear anything else but flip flops until your tattoo is healed. Moisture, and rubbing from show can seriously cause big trauma. I am assuming that if you went to a professional parlor, most likely the tattoo was neglected somehow during the healing process. See a dr. asap, skin on foot is really thin and you could end up with serious marks or keloid scarring.
samee exact thing happened to me. I just got mine done about a week and a half ago, and a piece came off and it is a bit red aswell. Its gettin a lot better though. I was told not to soak it in the shower, and to use Aquaphor oinment and it has been working, flip flps are a must! The piece that came off is healing and my scabs are coming off. The color went off a bit, but i was told even before i got it done that this would happen. Now i just have to wait till its completely healed to go back and get it retouched. Feel better, keep me updated as well.
ya i got my tattoo about 10 days ago, and i took a shower the 2nd day i had it, the whole scab just kind of fell off, and now its looking a lot better, but im still al ittle worried about it, i dont want to go to the dr cause i know its not that serious, but the whole middle part is like open, but not ya know? what should i do?
if it has been ten days already, i suggest to go see a doc just to be on the safe side.

I am in the same boat here. I got my tattoo done about 6 days ago, it was doing fine till I started back 2 work. Now it is RED, Scabby & looks like pcs have came off. It's a Yellow tattoo so I can't till if the color will stay. When I don't work it looks fine & the redness clams down. But I was wondering if I should put anything else on it like Neosporine? I have wanted to take Tylonal but I have a medical conditon so I can't. Is there anything I can do to help the healing? I am getting really worried about it? If the Tattoo didn't man so much to me it wouldn't be a big deal, But duh it means enought to have it here on me 4ever! Any advice would be helpfull.
The piercer where I work had something like that on her foot. Turns out she had ringworm. I guess somehow the bacteria from her animals got into her tat and fucked it up pretty bad.
I got a Tattoo about 10 days ago & It is red around the tat & has some scabbing. There were small chunks of color & scab that came off. I am taking Amoxicillin for something else & was wondering if this antibiotic will work with the infection in my tattoo or do you think I should go to a Dr. for some other antibiotic. Also where the little chunks came off is there still going to be some color on it after it heals or will the pigment of the tat be gone from those spots. Right now my heart looks like a leopard with the sore spots. Oh I am putting Aguaphor on it but have read that AD ointment will work as well. Is this true? Because all the forums I have read says that any antibacterial ointment will clog the pores & cause an infection. Any suggestions wwould be greatly appreciate.
I got my tattoo like 2 weeks ago and it looks gross... I got little butterflies and on one of the butterflies the skin is raw and red. THe tattoo is a little swollen, and red. The other parts of the tattoo are not tho. They were red but they went away. I cant wear flip flops tho, they arent aloud at school, work, or internship. Neways i put some neosporin on it lately but i used a + d before.
ok, so i just got a foot tattoo done 6 days ago. just yesterday my foot started to swell a bit and turn red. it feels a bit stiff as well. i went to the doctors today and they prescribed me antibiotics. i'm currently washing it a few times with the Pears unscented soap, followed by an application of polysporin cream. should i be doing anything else to take care of it? oh, and how long do i have to wait until i can put sunscreen on my tattoo? thanks!
my foot is also infected i have 6 tattoos and all have been fine by the same artist . i have all the symtoms pussing and inflamed and sore to walk on my question is if it hasnt kept clean could there be a chance of blood pioson as i havent been able to even touch it with the pain. im currently on antibiotics but if this proceeds would i be stupid and look like a fool to go to hospitel?
Just got a tattoo Friday april 30th 2010 I got a cherry blossom tattoo on my foot. On the top of my foot my the only place it is red is around my cherry blossom branch. is this something i should worry about or do you think that it is still healing because its only been 5 days since i got the tattoo done.
So I got a foot tattoo 2 weeks ago. It was fine for the first 2 days but with all the dirt and mudd in Nepal, it got seriously infected to the point that my foot got swollen bad. I applied neosporin for 2 days, but it didnt work my foot kept on getting larger. So i decided to go to the pharmacy and buy 15 amoxicilin pills, 200mg, 1 every 8 hrs for 5 days. After the second day, I started seeing progress and the infection was dying out. After the 5th day my foot went back to normal and the infection was gone...bad part is that my tattoo is ruined on one side, now that Im back in the US I gotta have it retouched. So If you get a serious infection, I recommend Amoxicilin, no need to go to the hospital they will give you the same antibiotic.
Don't panic guys, I got a huge gypsy butterfly and twills and stars and stuff on my foot and up my ankle (having had much of my torso covered previously) - this was on the 28th July - 6 weeks or something later and I am now liasing with my artist to get a couple of bits cleaned up and my gorgeous butterfly is still a little wrinkly/wanting to shed it's skin AGAIN, but, it's ALMOST peachy. I had HIDEOUS scabs for about 3 weeks - seriously, 3D style, it is a black & grey tattoo but it had an amazing red halo, and seeped a little yellow puss too - all for several weeks!! I had some sort of club foot for about a week and it was so sore to the touch for about two or more. I was sooooo worried and went to a doctor who actually DIDN'T perscribe any meds cos she said it WASN'T an infection - just really bad inflammation. I saw my artist again, who is really great, and she said that every foot/ankle or leg design she's ever had (and she's COVERED) has been "really screwy" when healing - I just think it's to do with the circulation, a different type of skin etc etc. Don't worry, I'm nearly there, although it's taken forever, I LOVE my finished design (which is the reason we do it right?) and if you have a reliable artist, they will always touch up any problems after it is healed... Good luck and just have a little patience...
