There is a huge difference between a tattoo artist and a tattooist. But here in this redneck craphole called Georgia, theres seems to be a misconception on that theory. I am from New York City. I got my first piece when I turned sweet 16, a strawberry near my cha-cha, from the one and only Coney Island Freddy. He is a friend of my Uncle Jerry, and I was fortunate to have him and not Ray ink me. That that Ray is bad, but having the Father of The New York Tattoo Scene ink you is sorta an honor. Moving on, my other body art has been done by ARTISTS from Philly. My ink is art. Unique and original. I am stopped by people on the street and asked about my body art.. That how you know it's damn good.. O.K, so I moved to Georgia a bit more then 3 years ago. Started looking for local "Artists". Well if you search the web for a tattoo artist, 1 name keeps coming up over and over and over and over and over (you get the drift) and over again. All Or Nothing.. Talk about self promotion. Not that I have anything against promoting ones self. Hell men have become famous because of self promotion and really have had nothing so unique to promote. But in this case, it's all a bunch of crap. I'll give joshua carlton his props, he does a mean koi fish. but really folks, my 9 year old can draw a mean koi fish. So my hubby & I went to the shop to see what we could see... First off, your greeted by this chick who looks like her hair needs a serious washing. She had dirt under her nails... like eeewwww.. The first person you see, who represents your business shouldn't look like she is the president of the local trailer park. I am an inked and pierced woman, theres never a reason to look like trash.. It gives all of us a bad rep.. She was nasty and rude.. The artists we spoke to were arrogant and just plain sucked.. Look, I'm paying your dopey ass $200 an hour, you should be kissin my ass.. O.K, maybe not kissin my ass, but you know what I'm sayin.. The flash was amateurish (not that I would ever get flash) and the original, well wasn't anything that I have never seen before.. My whole point is, if you say "HEY MAN WERE THE F*CKIN BEST THERE IS" then ya know what, you should be the best, or at least up there.. All Or Nothing is your run of the mill tattoo parlour, with run of the mill tattooist, (notice I didnt say artists), with front-desk personalities that should be cleaning public restrooms. I know that some of you will say, "Joshua Carlton has been in all the major ink publications". And my answer to that is "George Bush a C student is our president"
Georgia Has No Tattoo Artist, just Tattooist

Ya know Pamela...I am startin to wonder about those guys myself...now don't misunderstand...My GOd! some of the art that Brandon does just Kills me!...but the self promotion thing is just going too far...they are on my "myspace" friends list and every single day when I open my bulletins there are just bunches of ads for all or nothing from the artists as well as everyone who works there down to the damn janitor!...ok the janitor thing was a fib (hee hee) and most of them are carbon copies of each other....
I think they have some wonderful ideas about where this biz can go but the constant self aggrandizement is going to hurt them in the long run...I don't know what artist you spoke with but I have to say the ones I have had contact with have been VERY down to earth people, but the front people DO seem to have attitudes...what kind of sense does THAT make?
ANyway...I'm sure you can find another great artist down there dear...All or Nothing CAN"T be the only good shop...just the highest profile...maybe a bit TOO high?
Good luck finding that which you seek woman...may the Tattoo Gods smile on you...PEACE!...TAz
Another option is to see Dave at Good Clean Fun (770-982-9930 in Snellville) or Cap Szumski at Timeless tattoo (404-315-6900 in Atlanta)
Cap is GREAT...he worked with Brian Everett for years if that tells ya anything....may I also recommend Russ Abbott at 13 Roses Tattoo Parlour?...524 Flat Shoals Ave right there in Atlanta...anyone at that shop does bang up work and no rock star attitudes!!...Don't know Dave but if Krystof recommaneds him I would put himon the list of people to see!
Hope we have been of some help...good tattooing!...
See?..All or Nothing just ain't the only great shop in Georgia!!!!!
Where can we see pics of your tattoos...they are part of history and should be shared!!!..................TAz
13 roses is chock full of great artists, cap and good clean fun are also great studios.
We dont develop AllorNothingTattoo.com anymore, but we do work with some of the artists there.
Joshua Carlton left All or Nothing a while back though I think he was talented when he was there (I havnt seen this coi, all I've seen is whats tattoonow gallery and his site. He did quite a few awesome tattoos when he guested at our studio, Im surprised you seem to know what good art is and single him out to bash. But hey you dont like his work, no problemo, no skin off my back!
O.K. O.K.. I admit my error... When I mentioned the koi fish tat, I did mean Brandon Bond... That new skool stuff just doesnt float my raft... so here goes... I AM SORRY JOSHUA!!! I was impressed with some of your work, but I was in error saying you were the koi fish doer!!! and I do humbly apologize... it was late, i was tired, i was stoned, i was insane, the boogy man was after me, i ate to much shell fish... but I am woman enough to admit I was in error.. so to you Brandon Bond and your stupid koi fish i give you :P~~~~~~~ ... And All or Nothing still sucks tidy bowl in my opinion... I'll take the nothing Thank You....
The artist that did some of my ink actually did recommend Capt. S to me... My artist is The INCREDIBLE Joe Johns @ wizards world in Philly... Thanks for the info guys, but for now I'll stick to what I know, which isn't much, but I know I love it... Ciao for Now My Inked Brethren...
*SOUNDS OF SOBBING*
So you aren't gonna let us see your tattoos?
*pitiable crying...sound of tears hitting the isolation cell floor*
All or nothing puts out some clean, solid work but if you say they make you uncomfortable or that the workers are assholes then I agree- move on to another artist/shop. There are plenty of talented folks out there so you don't have to put up with egos or attitudes.
If i was you, I would definitely look into 13 Roses. I have not met them but I do know that Russ Abbot, Soul and the rest of the crew there all put out really nice work.
Hope this helps...
I no it was frustrating what you went threw,But your coment that there are no artist that tattoo in georgia and then in the same sentence asking were people suggest you should go shows me that you dont no a fraction of the artist in georgia.I would like to add that just because people are not self promoting themselves till they turn purple does not mean they are not there. Some of the best artist are the ones that keep to them selves and are aware of what they are capible off.So i am sure there are great artist in georgia that you may not no about.,And next time you should not single out the hole georgia because all or nothing made you upset.I hope you find what you are looking for.
for them not to be tattoo artist or whatever they sure pulling those tattoo of the year awards and in almost every damn tat mag i pick up i dunno i like the art comeing out of there jmo though
oopps i mean tattoo ARTIST of the year awards my bad
No doubt those guys are doin some awesome artwork...however if the front people who actually deal with the public have attitudes...they will suffer for it.
true that bro but that has nothin really to do wit there art work thats gettin bashed and i guess its diff for me when i been there i have had no probs with the front folks treated me wit respect i treated them wit respect so ill be back!!!!
Agree 100%...I'm not sayin yea or nea...I daid "IF" the front people were as bad as the post said...I also said any dealings I had with anyone there they were just great....Hey can we see you work?
yea taz im making a lil thing at inked nation that show my tats wating on my appt with brandon bond to finish this sleeve and ill post up the link
Can't wait to see your work man!!...TAz
