Going back to an artist, should I be worried?

About 5 weeks ago, I had some additions done to a tattoo of my family crest (2 family symbols, about 3in X 5.5in), done by an artist that I researched and heard great things about. Within a day, I could see a lot of the color fading and places where I thought there was shadowing was now gone. On day three, it looked like there was large, faded gaps in the outline… so bad that one area looked like a dotted line and another area looked like it was erased completely. I called and went back to the shop, and the artist seemed just as surprised as me to see what it looked like, total crap. We scheduled a “touch-up”, which actually took almost as long as the first application, and now the tattoo looks great and I could not be happier with it. Is something like this normal? This is about my 10th tattoo and this has never happened. I want to continue my sleeve and the artist’s work is really great, but…..
That is a choice you have to make on your own. There are so many factors involved in tattooing if just one of those factors is off a great tattooo can become a shitty one. Things like Ink that is expired, Or barbed needles, Your stress level at the time. just to name a few. If you happy with the work then yeah stay a customer. Only you can say if you will go back or not. Without knowing details Myself nor others on the forum cant say for sure yes or no
Good point. I think I just got a bit worried because something like that had never happened with my other tattoos. It looks fantastic now and that is what matters I guess. I think I might just play it safe and start traveling further to get work done. Thanks!!
