Hey, i am just starting out, but I want a mchine that is going to hang with me for a while. I was looking into a KAPLAN east coast machine, but then I saw the STRONGMAN and other machines also available in the NYC area. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated, G
try using the one your mentor suggests.
Ask your mentor, you may even get lucky and get a set handed down from him.
this is one of the best to start : http://www.yoshii.com/gallery/objects/images/20010723-kyoin0110_pencil.jpg

this ones dedicated to you, Josey, wherever you are. Godwell (and others asking this question), these artists are not being jerks, they are being serious and looking out for you bad karma. If you dont have someone in real life who is talented to answer this simple question, then you will only make bad tattoos as you learn by trial and error that will build up your bad karma. Before answering this quesiton you need to be a bad ass artist. First draw your ass off and build up a portfolio of original art and then you will attract a good tattoo artist who will teach you to really tattoo.

Hell yeah!! A great place to buy inferior equipment and learn how to tattoo in your kitchen!!...I think they have how to tattoo dvds and everything!!
It just burns your ass that people can get great equipment at a reasonable price. Are there butt heads out there that should not do tats? For sure and a number of the errogant SOB's work in "shops"! There are many great tattoo artists that are self taught and many butchers that were taught by others that are butchers themselves, that work in shops. So get over it you burnout ass!
sure, you can get good equipment at a reasonable price, just not at needlejacks.
