Got a tattoo around my ankle and now it's swollen like I twisted it

I just got a band around my ankle and I noticed the day after getting the tattoo that my ankle is swollen. Not just like puffy around the tattoo, my whole ankle is swollen like I twisted it or something, only it doesn't hurt(and I haven't done anything that would cause this that I know of), it's just kind of tight feeling. Should I worry about it? Or could it just be swollen from me twisting it around so much while I got tattooed, or the guy holding my foot/ankle...I would think if that was the case it would hurt hough, and I can walk on it and everything and it's fine, but you can see the swelling pretty easily if you look at my heals, it is so swollen that you can barely see the bones on the side of my ankle, and it looks like my foot is a little swollen as well, but it's hard to tell.
If you haven't already, and the swelling is still there...go to the doctor. You probably have an infection. The doc'll probably prescribe some kind of antibiotic to keep it from getting further infected. Take a couple of days to relax with you feet up. You might have bad circulation and not even know it. Drink a lot of water.
I got a tatto on my ankle this past june. Days after my ankle was swollen and puffy. It's fine now, I think it just gets swollen because there's a bone right there and its kinda a painful place to get one
i just got home and got three bands on my left ankle and there is no puffiness but just in case i would suggest 2 thinks...........1) call the artist and see what they say............2) after the call to the artist call your family doctor and let him know all the converstaions that has taken place between you and your artist and he can be informed. Good luck,

Any extremity tattoo will induce some swelling, depending on how you individually heal. I have done numerous ankle tattoos and my best advice would be to raise your leg and (gently) apply a cold compress. When there is trauma to your extremities, your body may react similarly to when you get a sprain. The swelling should go away in 1-3 days. HOWEVER, if swelling increases and your tattoo begins to become even more raised and red as time continues, get yourself to a doctor.
I got a tattoo on my leg that reaches to my ankle bone...it was not swollen the day I got it but the next morning and for the next 2 days I had a little bit of puffiness in my ankle. It is just from the tattooing, it is a wound...even if it looks nice, it is still trauma to the skin. If it gets red or severely itchy or burning or swelling doesn't go down after 2 days I would say see a doctor as it could be an infection.
