Half coils?

5 messages · last activity 9/11/2006

Hey guys. I know we're not supposed to post anything on here about the technical side of tattooing so I was wondering if those who can give some insight to my question can just email a response to me at [email removed]. Question.... I'm thinking about using half coils with my third machine and I just wanted to hear opinions from those who've used the half coils. Did you like it? etc. etc. Thanks so much.
Talk to 23 enigma man!
Hey Taz.... I emailed Enigma man a couple of days ago.... I haven't heard back from him yet. I'm sure he's a pretty busy guy. I figure worst case senario.... if I don't like the half coils I can change them back. I'm always thinking if it's not broke don't fix it, and I'm completely happy with the set up of my current shader, but in this industry, you can never learn enough and I was really intregued when I heard about the half coils. Since I want a 3rd machine strictly for color fill, I think I will try it out. Thanks for trying to direct me in the right way! Take care!
Thats what I'd do...I am planiing on trying a set soon myself...let me knoe how they work for ya!...TAz
the half coil makes sense if you are looking to build a light weight machine. A lot of big time tattoo artist are using them, Guy, Deano, Baxter. The coil is wrapped with a thinner wire from the center of the core/up to achieve the same amount of electromagnetic force. I want to build one myself with a custom made aluminum frame because I like my liners to be really light.
