has any one had a prob. with skin candy ink?

been using perma pro for years thought i'd try something dif. for a change so got some skin candy ink, it not only suck's..... on three of my clinets it became all oozy! looked infected it was'nt but it looked really bad .i never had ANY!!! probs. with perma pro AT ALL!!!! so please don't use skin candy...... dump it all out! monster mash

Ive only tried theyre sassyfras or whatever its called green two other artists in my shop tried using it and had trouble getting it to go in so they gave it to me where i tried to put it in it just looked like i had packed water into the person over and over havent used it since I use Eternal and Starbrite has always been a consistant go to Erik

Yeah, not that great... more filler than pigment. you can tell the difference in the weight.. grab a bottle of intenze and you can easily feel the difference on just an ounce... I second... "dump it"!

i am an australian tattoo artist who recently bought some of this ink online. i will have to say with regret it was f**CKING expensive and unfortunatly i found the same problem..... felt and looked like water, didnt hold its original colour from the bottle, how am i supposed to return something that is half use from another country.... all the clients i used it on i had to rebook for touch ups, wish i had stayed with starbright or prizm... look maybe we just got a BAD BATCH or something, i would love to hear some results of testing and because of the show miami ink on foxtel in australia eveyone seems to want to try it. i am the first studio in my area to try it and badly dissapointed, i would love someone to contact me at [email removed] for some help..... id love to keep using the brand but my first batch didnt do the job the price should have done.... dissapointed but illing to give it another go ....thanks

PS. i even went to the extent of contacting the reseller who basically told me to f**k off and wouldnt do anything about it..... i even started to advertise how good the ink was before i actually tried it on my website, to catch a few extra clients.... but unfortunatly after using it i had to remove it from the site and apoligize to the clients i had used it on.... it cost too much to buy the ink, use the ink, then have to redo have the work because the pigment wouldnt "stick" is it possible there are frauds out there ?? like i said would love some feedback.... this has been a costly event for my studio, but like i said too many people in australia want to try it, but because of its cost, no studio but me ws willing to try it.....i would love to be able to give good feedback but how ?? there is a massive possibility for this stuff in oz???

Ok something is strange here, all of our new ink bottles have medical shrink seals on them, if your in Austrailia and getting it there, its being bootlegged because we have no Australian distribution . like i said as far as i know, the inks i bought were from a reseller on ebay in america.... the colours bough were in a package containg: a 14 colour starter box of 1oz bottles for $156 us shipped.... it contained Whitegirl 2. Candy Apple Red 3. Red Hot 4. Marz 5. Dolemite 6. Blisterine 7. Tastywaves 8. Sassygrass 9. SRV Teal 2 10. Bellbottom Blue 11. Ripple 12. Muddy Water Blue 13. Razberry Creem 14. San Brownadino the colours i used were the red hot, candy apple red, sassygrass green, and bellbottom blue.... im not sure whether your aware but as well as this cost it would cost me at least $80-$100 us to ship these products back, along with the cost of touchups, im looking at a total loss of about $300 us just to get what i should have in the first place...... sorry but i cant afford to loose that much money and have more products sent back to me of the same quality... you are welcome to check my site or email me at http:/ink-in-skin-tattoo.webs.com or [email removed] to keep this outa this web forum... just confuses me also as to why and how such a prominant brand and product owner ???? could be on such a website ?? or could it just be a scratcher trying to be a hardcore lol...

I forbid all my American distributors from selling on Ebay, Ebay is not the place to buy tattoo equip, if you bought it there then it may have been reproduced in China. My main distributors are Technical supply in the U.S. and Powerline supply in Europe where my inks are now certified to EU code, anything could have happened to that ink if purchased on ebay, it could have easily been tampered with. I tattoo here in the us and purchased it directly from the Skincandy website, ive had no problems with it whatsoever, in fact all the new shit is unbelievable, the old stuff wasnt so great, you guys should be happy August is willing to take the time and cares enough about his product to try and fix the problem, that kind of customer service is non exsistant today

August/Skincandy, Just thought I'd give you the 'heads up' re:Dylan and his posts. See the thread 'Australian Tattoo Studios' for further clarification. Although I've never tried your inks, it pisses me off when a 'poser' makes comments that could feasibly effect your rep and it would certainly seem that you are trying harder than most to stand by your product, which I respect. Check the post referred to and bear in mind he did say he bought it 'online on Ebay' which IMHO should give another clue as to who/what you're dealing with. I can't even imagine any true professional who'd buy ink thru Ebay but then, Dylan isn't a true professional. Doc

Thank you, just make sure you get it from me next time, shipping is insanely expensive and I'm currently looking for an Oz distribution hub, you should see our ups bill, about 12k a month and thats mostly local US stuff, and for the record, all new Skincandy has a medical shrink strip seal with a SKINCANDY LOGO, which i had designed specifically for the 1 oz and 2 oz bottles. No other ink company has this as of yet, its the same type of seal you'd see on a medicine bottle like Tylenol. Also there should be VERY LITTLE OR NO SEPARATION in the new inks, I'm now using almost double the pigment load as before so there should be no problems with lightfast integrity or opacity, it should go in like butter. ANOTHER FOR THE RECORD, almost anyone with a long track record of tattooing in the U.S. knows I started and coined Skin Candy around 99 but technically started making/mixing ink, selling shop to shop in San Francisco in 1996 when Ed Hardy was tattooing my back. Originally I had a partner who was working at Tattoo City for Ed.. guy named Nalla who showed me the basics then quit after 3 weeks cause it was too messy for him..lol, 1999 I placed the first Skincandy ads in Tattoo magazine, back when I was killing myself and my back mixing powder in blenders all day. Tattooers need to understand there will always be certain colors that work shitty, not all skin is created equal, most pigments start out the same, the only thing that makes them different is the development process or grind, and pigment load. When your making large batches of ink some bottles may get less pigment because so many bottles are being done at once. about 2 years ago we were struggling with this process. To date, re new batches, were using a much more expensive dispersion an adding double the pigment load, THERE SHOULD BE NO SEPARATION IN THE INK IF VERY LITTLE . We haven't had any complaints in at least 9 months from any U.S. distributors. Like I said before, all the current Skincandy has a medical strip seal like what you see on a medicine bottle, be sure you have this when you receive product. If it still sucks, call the factory and I will personally call you back and refund all your money. August

August- I think you're professionalism is fabulous, and any customer should be thrilled you'd be willing to ship new product to replace one you admitted may have been inferior. Dylan- You're instigating and acting like you're above it. August offered to replace your inks even though you bought them ON EBAY. Thats not only unprofessional, it could be dangerous for your clients. Who knows who was selling the inks, if they were used, tampered with. Maybe the inks were a bunk batch, but the fact that you bought them off ebay, in my opinion is ridiculous. Everyone else- you have too much time on your hands when you get to the point your insulting people choices in they way they format their posts, or whatever other lame insult you can think of. August offered a very professional approach to solving the problem. Anyone concerned you have said thank you and personally emailed him to avoid this public debacle. Well I recently ordered few bottles of Skin candy and after reading this stuff I'm keeping my fingers cross that it is good quality stuff. It is very expensive and I'm paying that much to gurantee quality results. I woudn't want to loose a customer over bad ink. There's so much competition round here I have to be the best and use the best to stay in the game.

i even started to advertise how good the ink was before i actually tried it on my website ...says "dylan" that sums up the whole thing. why would you lie like that? makes no sense...forget the fact you bought off of e-bay. also, if you don't like a flavor of ice cream you bought to "try" do you throw a hissy fit? It is called trying it out...if you know how to tattoo, you should know that some inks don't work with some machines and needles or with a person's hand speed...or a billion things. you should be able to know WHY it does not work and move on....not blame the seller. I use pigments from a variety of brands....some reds from these peeps...some blues from here...yada yada yada....trial and error to see what I like. But I don't try and freak out on the brands I don't like...just move on. Skin Candy? Well, I have tried a little bit..I am smart enough to not buy a ton of it without TESTING it. I like some colors ok....but, it has been a while since I tried it. Maybe it is better....I know I am since then. Everyone gets better at what they do if they are in it for the long haul.

Thanks for another confirmation of what I've thought and stated about this 'poser', not just on this thread but on others he's posted on. Although I hadn't heard of his stealing pics of work and posting it as his, it does not surprise me in the least, considering everything else about him, I would like to mention he is no longer posting his fraudulent claim to being a member of the PTAA as I contacted them about that claim and they appparently contacted him about it as at least THAT lie is no longer on his website. I ordered 3 colors from skin candy lime green, Tokyo orange and yellow. As you can see the lime green really sucked, the yellow sucked as well but the Orange I found to be excellent. I actualy went over the skin candy colors with intenze colors in an atempt to save the work. So I guess there you have it some colors are great and some are not ,through trial and error you figure out which is usable and which is not.

i see loads of top artist using skin candy at conventions. so that means his inks must be good. i got a few colors off him and they are great. like all ink manufactories not all colors from the line will be liked.

had to say im no tattoo god but had a peek ay dylans site and 90% of the artwork suck ass i really hope this guy dont enjoy doing his stars because there terrible and hats off to august top man for his offer on replacing or refunding inks

just out of intrest what needle grouping where you using on this what taper ive seen many people claim a certain ink just wont go in and not even attempt changing the needles there using or realise there using the wrong type ;) H
