Healing time

I have a quick question. I just got my first tattoo a little over a week ago. It is on my upper thigh. It has already peeled. It is a bit shiny witch I know is normal. My question is how long does it take until the area will feel normal again? It gets a little iratated (sp?) after I walk for awhile. My boxers rub on it alttle witch I can't aviod. I don't think there is anything wrong but I was just wondering on average when should i expect the area to feel "normal" again. Thanks
