Hi is there a site we can go to to get help in designing our own tattoo? so that we can use things in our design that are important to us. Thanks in advance fro your time and help Simcerly Childs
You should be going to your custom tattoo artist to work out your design ideas. If you find the right artist, they can transform your ideas into a tattoo better than you could imagine (thjey are artists, after all, its thier profession). I believe the first step in finding the perfect tattoo is finding your artist first, tand then working with them to design the perfect tattoo. Where abouts do you live?
Hi we live in Nova Scotia Canada. Do you know of any good artist around here? Thanks again.
hey!! i'm in the same boat. i've tried talking to several tattoo artists about about a (simple) design with my son's name in it and they don't seem to have much interest. i've gone up to new york & florida and vegas and asked artists there, still to no avail. so, i was wondering the same thing as the first post. i'm currently in the dc area.
Still working on Nova Scotia. Dave Waugh from Jinx comes highly recomended in the DC area. Tell em we say hello!
Custom designs are the best for a tattoo since your ink should be somehting special. I do and design custom tattoos for people around the world! http://www.spiritualnetwork.net/tattoos is my web site - feel free to check it out. I started this site doing my custom tribal names and have made a name formyself with my unique tribal styling of names. I also offer Exclusive Rights to be purchased of any custom design I create. Let me know if I can help. Kay Zahn
Dear Childs Just found a sight that recomended trying a fellow named Chris Mott at a place called Scotia Tattooing. Try looking them up and see what you think. I think their in Halifax.Don't have a yellow page handy yet to give you proper sight info. Good luck Mommygirl
a guy named Jeff Jollimore, from Nova Scotia, came to Grand Manan (New Brunswick) and did 2 excellent tattoos for me. And, he tattooed my boyfriend, my friend, my cousin, my boyfriend's friend, and about 20 other Grand Mananers while he was here. That was 2 years ago, and the ink is still really bright. And also, he customized my tattoo from some designs he already had. He can also take almost any design of your own that you give him, and make it look great. He designed an eagle's head tattoo for a friend from a magazine picture. He has a huge selection of tattoos, and he's great at portraits, and freehanding. An associate of his (whom i just called) told me he's setting up a tattoo parlour in "Western Passage". I don't know where that is. In fact, i'm looking at a map, and i can't see it anywhere. but, it must be there somewhere, and maybe you'll know where tis. hope that helps! Laura from Grand Manan
check out Pinskis Palace of Pain & Beauty in Halifax at www.pinskis.com This will solve all your problems, trust me.
Hi, I've gotten all my tattoos done in Halifax at Kara's (top of Spring Garden by Robie) and've been extremely happy with 'em (really clean, professional environment, and the tattooists are great people). I've heard good things about Scotia Tattoo and was thinking about checking them out, and have seen good work done at Permanent Ink. I've seen AMAZING work done at Sin on Skin (formerly Skintastics), though they're alot pricier than work done elsewhere. Hope this helps, enjoy your ink!
Hi, Scotia Tattooing is one of the best places to get tattooed in Nova Scotia! I will only get work don by him. Their shop is awesome, the guys renovated the whole place, it is worth it just to go in and check it out. The artists name is Chris Moss, he takes incredible pride in eveything he does, you know any piece he does will be original - right now he has an apprentice - Andrew - He's working his ass off - the two of them are amazing at what they do - they eat, sleep and breath tattoos! Everyone should check them out!
Hey, herd alot of bad things about Scotia, and had a bad experience with Karas, You should defintly go to Sin on Skin ( skintasttics) They are excellent, and I only go there for my tattoos. They guarantee them from fading as long as you take care of em. Hope this helps.
FYI - Scotia guarantees their work for life as long as you take care of your tattoos. And bad stuff is said about everybody - but you won't know unless you experience it yourself - If you take a look around the city - the majority of the best work is either done by Chris or somebody from out of town.
I will highly recommend Permanent Ink in Halifax. Amazing artists, amazing work, low prices. check out the site and see for yourself. They will take care of you properly. www.permanentink.ca
hey i want to go and get a tattoo in halifax too. My friends wants to go to merchant marie's and i was wondering if thats a good place or not.
This is for Childs. Chris Moss is an awesome tattoo artist at Scotia Tattooing. Highly recommended. There are many people from here that wont go to anyone but him. He's pretty booked up though, might take a while to get in. But its well worth it. He is in Dartmouth NS. Im not sure where your from in NS but hes down by Bannook Lake. Kind of hard to notice if your not looking for it. The business is actually a house, right across from Robins Donuts and a gas station.
There are a few sites where you can get custom tattoos designed. http://www.designmytattoos.com http://www.tattoodesigner.net http://www.designmytattoo.net
Scotia Tattooing is the shit! I've gotten all my ink there, and Moss is one of the best artists I've seen... In Montreal I'd reccommend Adrenalyn... but that's here...
Not sure if this is close to you but i believe she is located in canada. Saw some of her work on bme and looked through her portfolio- pretty solid w/ a cool style. Hope this helps... http://www.dragonfx.net/wemport/marina.html
Hey everyone, I live in New Glasgow, which is about 2 hours north east of Halifax, we have a few tattoo artists around here. Sailor Jerry has been open since the 60's, he has awesome designs, but he is getting old, and a bit shaky, however, Danny Hayes operates in downtown New Glasgow and he does amazing work and the colors are incredible.
chris moss is a great tattooest.i have never had work done by him,but have seen his work.both good and not so good.by not so good i mean fadeing quickly.have also had good and bad experiences in the shop.not with chris, just some of his staff.when chris isn't working on a tattoo he will talk to you and answer any questions you have.merchant marie is a good artest but doesn't do any large or custom work anymore.checkout utilty in halifax.i have seen some wotk that has come from this shop.great work.
I'm curious as to who you had a hard time with? Scotia has gone through a recent staff change and the people there are incredible. They have a female piercer now and she will soon be tattooing for them! I would reccommend going in and checking them out again, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
I am serching for Danny Hayes, he's done all 7 of my tats, I live in NB and am heading back in a few days & would love to get a couple done while i'm here. Anyone who knows where his shop is??? Last time I got one his shop was in Westville, but not now. Really appreciate any help.
hey to answer the question about Danny Hayes, he wasnt in westville for a little while he moved to downtown newglasgow and was working out of new dimensions hair design in the back.... he may not be there now, i live in cape breton now and am not sure if he's still there.... hope this helps ... also his number is (902)-759-7016 thats his cell phone number good luck
a website can never take the place of a good custom artist. Simple as that. No computer can think conceptually like a human artist.

And is highly recommened for custom work, He is at main st in dartmouth right behide raulphs strip bar the name of the place is called naughty bt nature, phone number is 902434 6969. Hello, You should definatly go to Scotia tattoo on prince albert rd in dartmouth it is the cleanist friendlest tattoo shop and Chris is an amazing artist I have 3 tattoos done by him and could not be happier. If you want quality work go to Scotia!
If you are ever in the Cape Breton area stay clear of Halliday Tattoos. He has a very professional looking sign and his shop is ok but he talks more than action. He is always forever slagging all the other "artists" in the area but he really is not that professional. I can understand I messedup a tattoo of some simple initials I got from him and I can understand a small cost with re-coloringbut he wanted to charge me the SHOP minimum. I tipped the guy 20 bucks for a 100 dollar tattoo of simple initials. The custom work was not that intense. Type them up and print em out. He is more of a stencil tracer than an actual custom artist. I was going to get a Japanese sleeve but the one Koi he did on my forearm looks to cartoonish and he seemed to lazy out on the coloring. The stencil had lots of red and cool white lines. The result was not even close to what the color was on the pic. I am in the process of getting those removed so I can go to a real artist.
i dont know what any of you people are talking about. I have only seen one mention of one credible tattoo shop in the halifax area. i dont mean to bash shopps, but i honestly think the only two good shops in halifax are utility and sin on skin. why you woudl go anywhere else is bisarre. i want to knwo where you guys are seeing good work in these shops. its kind of embarrassing.
Halliday Tattoos done a great job, on my tats. I never seen Rockst*r tats but as far as mine goes its the bomb. The artist was clean, professional, and gave me exactly what I asked for, at a reasonable rate. I have gotten other tattoos from other shops throughout Canada and the art work from Halliday was as good as any of my other tats. I would recomend them to anyone looking for artwork.
If you are going to get a tattoo in dartmouth / halifax either hit Pinskis or Scotia Andrew and Chris at Scotia are both phenomenal artists(but as was stated b4 usually a pretty bug wait time) and Alik Pinski is amazing as well. As for utility and these other shops most people i know wont go near them . Dont go near Marie's shop unless you really want to take a chance, she is hit or miss at best . Check out pinskis site www.pinskis.com i believe . That is a small sample of some of the work he does. His black and grey pieces are where it's at .
I know that for sure the BEST new tattoo artist in Halifax is Gillian at Kara's Day spa in Halifax, sure the place might not be your typical tattoo studio, but this girl knows what she is doing. She does the best custom designs,if you have an idea in your head she is the one to put it in your skin. She is very friendly and knowledgeable...Her colour work is amazing....if You get the chance drop in and check out her portfolio,She is wicked!
HEllo, As far as the tattoo artists around here go .... Jerry Billard from the Wizzards does great work. There are alot of rumour around here, but this is what goes on around here. People like to talk shit about everyone. If you've out been out to Jerry's then you know that they are clean and extremely friendly. They make you feel comfortable and treat you like a friend, not a client. If you go to his website you can see that his work is great. They also have a new artist there, Stephen Andrews, His works awsome too. Insead of listening to people talk shit about them, check them out for yourself, draw your own conclusion. As for Halliday tattoos, check out his site ... it speaks for itself .... www.hallidaytattoo.com.
Hey all, just wanted to let those that are looking for a place in NS know that I back Chris and Andrew from Scotia as well. My best friend and I have had phenominal work done there and another close friend has gotten custom pieces done on his entire back and ribs there. Andrew was Chris's apprentice, but he is now a full time tattooist as well and they both do really good work. They are really interested in making a customer happy, and they work on a design until they get it just right! There is usually a wait, but honestly...isn't a wait worth it for quality work that is going to be on your body for the rest of your life. Go see Chris and Andrew at Scotia on Prince Albert Rd, Dartmouth...You won't be sorry :)
Danny is one of my good friends and he is now in Stellarton beside Betty's tanning. He is an awesome artist and has done all my work and my sissy's. He rocks and is suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper clean his cell number is 759-7016 check him out anytime.
I would definitly recommend Scotia Tattooing. The staff are super friendly, are all gerat artists, including the new girl they have peircing. I have had custom work and gone in with friends when they were getting work done. Chris was able to rework a tattoo I got spontaneously and make it into something personal and fabulous. Andrew and Chris are the only artists in the Halifax area I would have work on me. Yes, the waiting time for an appointment is killer, but you are going to have the ink for years to come, so if you really want it, whats another month or so. I am patiently waiting another two months until my year of no ink is complete to go back in and get my next cutom peice done. The thing I love best...I bring in a file folder full of pics, and the guys/girl in the shop help me to sort through it all and get the best tattoo that represents what was in my head. As for the so called "quick Fading" provided you properly look after you r new tattoo they will re touch it up for free. And Aside from teh ink on my foot, I have never needed to use this service.
does scotia have a website?
Hey y'all! I plan on taking a road trip to Halifax to celebrate my 30th b-day and wanted to give myself the gift of some more ink; anyone heard/know anything (good or bad) about White Trash Tattoo (Adams Ave.) in Hali. Any help is appreciated! Thanx!
Hey again! I must've gotten some misinformation about WTT; I tried the # and a recording said it was disconnected. After a search, I found no listing. Oh well! What (in everyone's opinion) is one of the top studios in/around Hali? Thanx for the help!
I had my tattoos done at the dragonbutterly<<<
Hey everyone, By far the best tattoo shop is in Enfield NS, called silver city tattoos. You will have to wait about two to three months but i have never seen such awesome work, trust me, go to google, type in kirt silver and have a look for yourself,,,,,,,,unreal. his business card is on there,
Hey. I went through a couple artists before I met "the one". His name is Kyle and he's the main artist at Sin on Skin in Halifax. His work is AMAZING. I will never go anywhere else for my tatts. The first one I got done my him, I took in a dark blurry crappy looking pic that you could barely make out and he turned it into a work of art. Absolutely amazing artist.
Hey All I had mine done at Skintastic about 4 years ago and the colour and detail were amazing...the shading on the shell was phenom and i couldn't be happier with it...Kyle LeBlanc was the name of the guy and now he's at Sin on Skin in the same location as skintastic was...my ex boyfriend had all of his done there and they're pretty fantastic...i couldn't be happier with mine...b/c i couldn't find Kyle when my friend from DK wanted one she went to the Smiling Dragon...he was very but i didn't care of the placement he chose it was rather high up on her hip and a lot larger than we were expecting...however Kyle did mine and it's super low and still in fantastic shape...the colour faded a little but not nearly as much as i've seen others and the shading is still super visable...i'd definately take a peek at his stuff and meet with him he's also very personable and easy to communicate what you want
I vote Chris or Andrew at Scotia. Chris has done all my work and Andrew has done alot on my friends and family. Andrew recently won awards for best black and white and best small color tattoo. His lines are strong and solid, and his attention to detail is unparalled. They are both professional and the shop is really clean. Chris does amazing work too, the only problem is the wait because they are so popular. But oh so worth it.
Hi ! Anyone ever heard of East coast Studios in Syndey??? I know there's 2 guys: Rob Bowie and Wade Bond. I don't know if this guys are good...

They r graet. wade is a good friend of mine and he is excellent!
I've heard about a new girl on the southern shore of Nova Scotia who's just started out. I've seen a couple of her tats and they look great! I think her name is Anita
anyone had any all white tattoos done in the halifax area? I've been thinking about getting one but i want to make sure the artist knows about what theyre doing..
In relation to finding a custom design it all depends on the artist that you see. A good artist will give you advice regardless off what you are looking for, however it is always best to have a concept or an idea first so that the artist can come up with a design that is suitable to your requirements. If you are not having much luck, apprentices or flash designers may be more willing as they have more time on there hands. As an apprentice myself practicing free-hand is always good as it enhances your current skills set and makes you more confident when designing in the future. Do NOT give up if you get knocked back there will be someone who will do it. Google search forums or websites for flash designers. If you want send me a mail detailing what you are looking for and I will come up with something for you Hope this helps
Hey whats up? If your still looking try Merchant Maries in Dartmouth, she is a sweet heart and does excellent tattoo work, or Adept on Quinnpool, which is a little expensive, but top quality amazing work... Or my friend Keegan can do it for the cheap, and he does excellent work himself. I know cause he spent 15 hours working on my chest. If you wanna know more about Keegan just drop me a line, he is super great.
What ever you do don't go to pinski pain and beauty for a tattoo.Worst mistake you can make.he say cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap. My biggest mistake don't let it be your.
I think everyone should check out Iron Mike in Truro. He is amazing. I went to 3 different artists and each artist is good in their way, but this guy is amazing. He is quick, clean, nice, and very easy to discuss what you want done. If you have facebook you can add him and check out his work.
my partner and i were going to get inked later this month. ive been reading this site. how come after reading for 20mins merchant maries isn't talked up? is it good, bad, or....what about kara's in cole harbour?
