here goes the list we gather, feel free to collaborate and you may be the one naming the shop:
- Lords of Ink (my fav)
- Parallel Universe (her fav)
- House on a Cloud - Tattoo (that was my first tattoo done by myself when I was 15)
- Fuckink (too funny to be true)
- Giants - Tattoo

To give you a hint, the shop will look more like an artistic spot than an ER room.
We have planned: art gallery gigs, car shows, DJs events, but we are stuck with the name of the shop...
Here goes the list we gather, feel free to collaborate and you may be the one naming the shop:
- Lords of Ink (my fav)

creative minds where are you?
Lords of Ink, doesn't quite sound right (Too much like lords of the dance)
Parallel Universe (could work but seems to be missing something)
Horse on a cloud (Different, but I think it might be lost on the customer and hard to remember)
Fuckink (Don't think you could legally get away with it.)
Giants - Tattoo (After the football team, I'm lost with this one)
Will work for Ink (Sounds pretty good and catchy, but might also get a lot of offer for just that. Might not be a bad thing... lol)
Of the above my vote would be for "Will Work for Ink"
My contribution: Cogito, Ergo Ink! Might get a chuckle ('roughly' translates to "I think, therefore I ink!" The original quote was "Cogito, ergo sum" - "I think, therefore I am" - possibly Rene Descartes? or some fellow like that) ... Or just Ergo Ink for shorter soundbites & easier rememberance.
Or Inks-a-lot... or The Inkery... Indelible Ink? How 'bout Ink-busters? I like this game!
How about "EuphorInk Tattoo".... Kind of a play on words.
Ink Stain? That's my new favorite :-) or Inkenstain, that's fun too!
Ink Stain? That's my new favorite :-) or Inkenstain, that's fun too!
Whoops, sorry 'bout the double post. I like EuphorInk too!
hey I see a lot of potential in here, but after hours of research we have a new name, which actually spells and pronounces the same in english and spanish (good for miami hispanic culture, like mine)
INSIGNIA: insignia |in'signe?| noun ( pl. same or -nias) a badge or distinguishing
mark of military rank, office, or membership of an organization; an official emblem : a
khaki uniform with colonel's insignia on the collar. • chiefly poetic/literary a
distinguishing mark or token of something : they left eternally inert blooms, the
insignia of melancholy. ORIGIN mid 17th cent.: from Latin, plural of insigne ‘sign,
badge of office,’ neuter of insignis ‘distinguished (as if by a mark),’ from in- ‘toward’ +
signum ‘sign.’ USAGE Insignia is, in origin, a plural noun; its singular form is insigne,
but this is rarely used. In modern use, insignia takes the plural insignia or,
occasionally, insignias: both are acceptable.
Thoughts???
congratulations and happy housewarming for your new shop!!
i like Insignia alot...or even InKsignia
good luck!
Skin Circus
Skin Spectrum
The Ink Spot
Stains
Inkspot and skin circus are already taken...man I suggest that whatever nam ya pick do a trademark search before ya invest money in it such as cards, signs etc>>>TAz
Dutch Boy Inks. and then have a picture of that goofy looking dutch kid off of the paint cans. or krayola kolorworks
has anyone opened a shop in the Miami are called 'Miami Inc.' yet? Honestly, just take out the BIGGEST telephone ad and as many TV spots as you can then see how many people show up expecting to hang out with Chris Garver for a day.
Funny but 100% unethical
inksignia is the best one listed.
just personal preference, but I do like Inksignia as a name.
TAz... you just wish you had thought of it first :) [glad you appreciated it though]
wow Inksignia is the name so far!!!!!
damn I was so close and never thought of it!!!
great call, so far the best!,
holly shit, INKSIGNIA kicks assssssssss!
Taz trust me don t forget my fulltime gig at the moment is the design studio http://www.eyewake.com I won't spend a penny after I get:
a) web domain like I want it
b) trademark search
c) making sure that now shop has that name in the galaxy
Thanks for looking out!
Cavink ...soon trading screen name for "Inksignia"
:D
Inksignia -- sometimes it pays to be a lurker...LOL
*pats self on back* just kidding... left off FleshArt, its probably taken
Inksignia is the namey-est name i've seen so far. Ink-comprehensible? Ink-convenient? Go on, string them out. Unfortunately, many of the best words that start with Ink are negative. How about Ink, Inc.? I'm sure it's only been done a zillion times.
St. Ink, for catholics,
Inkle Bells for sentimentalists,
Ink-Ah for native americans,
Ink-a-delic for hippies,
That Inking Feeling for neurotics.
Okay, okay, putting on my ad-guy hat: I suggest that whichever name you choose suggests what you do. Directly, like: Paint, stain, etc. Or, cleverly, like "Off the Wall". Hey, since it's a couple's shop, how about DoubleInk (DoubleTHink?) Twink, Ink Partners, etc etc...
Best of luck with your shop... one day i'll come see how you ink brown people with limited space!
Inksignia is really good, but I am not 100% convinced.
Some times I think the shop needs a more tattoo old school like name.
Something that portrays sailors, jap art, etc.
I like the word Dragon, maybe something like "Blue Dragon"
Any ideas around this route. I am going nutz!
Much appreciated !
I'm gonna send you down a new road.
What if you ditched the word ink all together and went with something super strong and recognizable that has something more to do with your overall artistic atmosphere? Sounds like more of a place where people with all kinds of cultural artistic tastes could come, so gimme a minute to think about this... I'll get back to it, but how about something like "Zeitgeist 2" or "The Forge" (You know, like a place where beautiful things are made that are permanent", something like that...
Lemme think a bit...
Enigmatic Inks
Chimera tattoos
A Tail of Two Dragons. Ive seen this awesome design of two bad ass looking dragons chasing each others tails in the shape of the Infinity symbol, that would look cool under the writing.
sorry man im shitty at this
Red Dragon ...Blue Dragon...Black dragon...Steel Dragon...all been used and over used....I like "the forge"...how bout "Dragon Forge?
DRAGONs FORGE.... I LIKE it!!!
Hey "The Forge" sounds pretty tight.
I am hating the INK thing all together.
I am really tempted to name the studio "Black Flag" (on of the best bands in earth) but I don't know if rip off that name is a good idea....
Keep shooting name my way I am very open to all kings of suggestions and routes.
The INK thing must go, that for sure.
Cravink
Some other thoughts...
1. Magnum Opus... Sort of means your ultimate artistic masterpiece...
2. Creative Forge, The forge, Design Forge,
3. Archetype: Custom Tattoo and Body Piercing
5. Black Lotus
6. Tattoo De Force, ArtForce
7. The Tribe, Tribe,
8. Ritual Dance
9. Art Attack Tattoo (Could be taken)
10. Divine Lines
11. Bauhaus 3
12. Iron Age Tattoo
I dunno... let me think some more...
"Iron Age" is really pretty,
One more name added to the list :D
Creative anyone?
You guys are in Miami right. what about
Under The Sun and In the Skin
Did somebody already come up with Primordial Ink?
Black Lotus Tattoo
Crazy Horse Tattoo
Indigeonous Ink
Arcane, or Arcane something. Arcane Rites. Arcane is a great word. Shit. I sent over like 50 more but it didn't take.
Genesis
Divine Lines? Did I say that?
The 10th Muse
The Black Muse
Hmmmm....Like The Forge. Simple, short and with a classy, solid sound to it. To my way of thinking, any play on words tends to lose it's impact after one has heard it a couple of times (and then starts to get annoying). The only problem is that "The Forge" has got me thinking of that Simpsons in which Homer takes Bart to a gay steel mill!!!

Under The Sun and In the Skin
ARE YOU FOR REAL!
The forge sounds good.
I just thought of: Seven Seas or 7Cs
kind of paying tribute to sailor tattoo origin. Whatcha all think?
I think its money. especially cause your in miami. id even think about putting one of those big ass sailor jerry pirate ships under it.

DOGMA TATTOO
has bee circling in my head as well....
Seven Seas could work in a coastal/port/boating area. There was a surf clothing label with that name a few years back and, although they didn't seem to sell many clothes, no one seemed to bag the name. You're in Florida? You may get a bit of a push from name recognition. Still big on The Forge although you're sure to get all sorts of wordage playing on "Forgery".Hup!
black lotus has been used in many states and iron age is a shop in st. louis MO
They already have a seven seas in san diego
What was I thinking? The disco at the gay steel mill was The Anvil not The Forge! D'oh!
damn ...How about DOGMA TATTOO
and the logo is a "pitbull" (Dog) with the letters "MA" in his badge = DOGma
Kind of like a dog from Massachusetts
lol
Sorry, I'm not getting "Dogma". Dogmatism has far too many negative connotations (although every time I hear the word, I recall the hackneyed grafitti "My Karma ran over your Dogma").
My vote goes for "The Forge" with "Insignia" (which has an old school naval/military vibe to it) as 2nd preference.
And with that, I'm gone.
Peanut Butter and Jelly!
Damn we're good! What's fascinating to me isn't only the type of names folk come up with, but the reasoning - all quite sound. I'm tempted to shop this around the agency so my colleagues appreciate how civilians deal with what we do.
If you're still in the market, i'll mull and maybe fling some more.
true all that, DOgma sucks after all.
I came up with "SAINTS OF IRON"
what do you guys think about this one? I can also get the domain saintofiron.com
sorry the domain saintsofiron.com
Inker's Paradise
HOW ABOUT LIVING CANVAS......i know it as nothing to do w/your pics but its good....

I've been doing some business plan work lately on the tattoo shop I would like to open before next summer. Yes I am THAT GUY who is not a tattoo artist that would like to open a shop. What I am certain of is that including techniques that reflect the love of the art of tattooing is very much related to business startegy. Integrating new technology to create better art into a studio comes with a price tag. That being said, and with regards to the reason this post was started... The shop names you clever artists/tattoo lovers have thrown out for this guy and his wife has been great. I do recommend that you keep in mind that the more people you reach out to with your shop's name the more people you will have as clients. With some research on naming my busniess (and I still have no clue as to what it will be) I found validity in a claim that your business name should be a play on words to your title if you want more publicity. Newspaper ads, phonebook ads, flyers, etc. will be recognized instantly if the title has "tattoo" in it. "Ink" is now obviously another good one with the "Miami Ink" show. In conclusion, the marketability (is that a word?) of your shop will easily be identified with a clear, simple, and understandable name. Face it, some of us tatted folk aint the sharpest tuulls in the shed.
um how about "Inkognito" it means hidden ink
um how about "Inkognito" it means hidden ink
I am in the military and I was reading your post how about ONE NATION TATTOO SHOP> With the American Eagle as your logo. It is catching and supports all aspect of the military, It would catch my eye and I would definitly try out the shop. I am actually looking for someone to design a tattoo of my four children with the eagle and the US flag, but I like that name.
living canvas is taken here in tempe az.
There is an Iron Age Tattoo in the STL area....
We've had a shop for 3years and our name doesn't give enough we think. so were looking for a new name but have hit a wall and keep coming up short. Maybe some one can help us to
I live in Los Angeles and am in the filming industry, so my life consits of Hollywood and the whole night life. I need to come up with a shop name that really applies to my life and surroundings. Any creative ideas? Ive seen some really good ideas on this web site, so let me know if you can come up with a few for me.
