Hipocrisy

If someone could explain this to me it would be great!!! Here's the scenario: There are a couple local artists who are constantly bashing "scratchers". Now I have seen the word mean a couple different things..someone who never did an apprenticeship or someone who tattoos from home or both. One shop in particular tattooed from home for several years whether they were employed at a shop or not. So they open a shop of their own and start running the ever popular all-day sitting for $350 and doing lots of specials and deals. A year or 2 goes by and the all-day special is discontinued followed by postings and ads about how any shops offering them are just scamming the customers. There are 2 specific practices that they have employed, but since it is no longer done....all they do is bash others who do the same. I have not seen them called out on these things possibly because they are friends with all the "cool kids" (to use an elementary school term since that's what the behavior is like) in the industry. I have nothing bad to say about them on a personal level and that is why no names are listed, but it seems the hipocrasy meter is peaking and has been for a while!!! At what point is a person who has tattooed from home and/or not had a true apprenticeship no longer considered a "hack" or "scratcher"? Thanks for reading
never honestly there used to be one artist here who has been tattooing since the sixties who would refer to the other artist who i was shortly apprenticed by as a scratcher and he was tattooing since 88 has had an actual shop for about 10 years now the guy i apprenticed under now refers to a couple other guys as scratchers as they never had an apprenticeship and were tattooing out of their house which is what he had done before opening his shop so really its just a matter of trying to make themselves look better than the next thats all so yea the answer is never
scratcher; a non trained person performining the art of tattoo with unsafe and non sterile pratices, along with the missing education of blood borne pathogens.a person that cares less about the quality, knowledge, history,or anything else to do with the tattoo industry except fast cash.hope this helps this is what a scratcher is.
